Jeremy Mayfield’s father Terry dies at 56

Terry Mayfield, father of Bill Davis Racing driver Jeremy Mayfield, passed away last night at the age of 56. A native of Owensboro, Ky., Mayfield made his home in Mooresville, North Carolina. Funeral arrangements are incomplete at this time.
“Gail and I, as well as everyone at Bill Davis Racing, offer our condolences to Jeremy on the passing of his father. Our thoughts and prayers are with him, Shana, Terry’s wife Lisa and his family at this difficult time.” Mayfield will compete in this weekend’s Nextel Cup Series event at Richmond International Raceway.

Jeremy is such a nice guy…we met him at the Brickyard about 3 years ago
and he was just the nicest guy I’ve ever met. So willing to do for the fans
and seeing/hearing what he’s been through the last year or so…you do feel
bad for him. And now his father passing away. Wow…Jeremy, our thoughts
and prayers are with you and your family.

Jeremy is a good guy. My family and I have him in our prayers. He’s been through a lot of crap this year but I know he’ll stand tall. He always does.
