Jeff Gordon and kidsJeff Gordon, driver of the No. 24 DuPont Chevrolet and NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series points leader, led kids to the finish line at the Power Wheels All-Star Challenge, sponsored by Fisher-Price, the largest infant and preschool toy manufacturer and a subsidiary of Mattel Inc. (NYSE:MAT). Pint-sized racers drove Fisher-Price’s new battery-powered NASCAR Power Wheels in a special race prior to the NASCAR NEXTEL All-Star Challenge last Saturday night.

Kids had a blast racing their favorite drivers’ replica cars, including Gordon, Dale Earnhardt Jr., driver of the No. 8 Chevrolet, and Jimmie Johnson, driver of the No. 48 Chevrolet. Stadium announcer, Ozzie Altman, provided the commentary while Gordon kicked off the race by waving the green flag. Gordon presented trophies to the race participants who also took home their very own NASCAR Power Wheels vehicles.

“Kids love imitating their favorite athletes,” says Russ Coddington, Vice President of Marketing, Power Wheels, Fisher-Price. “With NASCAR being one of the fastest growing family sports, it was a natural for Power Wheels to partner with NASCAR. The cars enable kids to slip behind the wheel and pretend to be one of their favorite racecar drivers.”

This is cool!! Y’all remember, Jeff was but a sprout when he
was whippin around in Sprint cars on dirt!! I believe I have
a photo of him at about age 10 or 12 in his orange sprint car
    at Sharon Speedway!!

I really think it’s great that he’s devoting time to
the youth of today and BEING a sports hero to these
    kids!!

But jeff has been doin stuff like this for years. He has a childrens hospital in North Carolina. He has numerous charities for children. It’s call the Jeff Gordon Foundation. He dedicates a lot of time and money to help sick children.

Jeff has been working on being a man lately. Can’t knock him for that. He should have made more progress than this already.
