Jeff Gordon doesn’t think The Chase points are unfair but…

Jeff Gordon was asked Friday at Phoenix if he thought the current ‘Chase’ points system is unfair…and he gave an interesting answer.
“I don’t think anything is unfair when you know going into it what it is. It’s not unfair if you know that they pay bonus points to win races in the regular season and that those guys earn those points. We know what we got to do. We’ve been ahead of them by enough points to be able to get it done and I think we’re still capable of getting it done. I don’t really think of it that way at all. The points are whatever NASCAR decides to make it and we’re going to race the championship however they do it.
“The one issue that I’ve got is that there’s no way you can write history and compare history if it constantly changes and there’s no way that you can compare a champion back before the Chase to once the Chase started and there’s no way you can compare a driver in the Chase if they’re changing constantly. I think it’s very hard to really create new history for the sport when they change it like that.”
- Edwards and Roush each docked 25 points, crew chief fined 25K-UPDATE
- France doesn’t plan on any Chase changes for 2008
- Johnson takes 30 point lead in The Chase, only 6 drivers left
- Tony Stewart doesn’t like ‘Chase’ changes
- Martinsville GM teams qualifying notes

So what is he saying,? that the chase is not fair because he has not won a championship since the chase started because nascar keeps changing the rules.
Or that his place in history is in jeopardy because the drivers in the past won championships without the help of the chase rules.
Whatever Gordo but it sounds like whining as usual to me…
wat do u mean as usual, . man some people confuse jeff for tony cuase i havent heard jeff complain as much as any other driver
Any time Jeff gives an opinion people say he’s whining, he was asked a question and gave an honest answer and it doesn’t sound anything like whining, get over it, he’s the best and you just can’t stand it!
I think Gordon is correct is saying one cannot start to compare the new driver of today to the old drivers of yesterday that won CC. Back in the Day if these race car drivers today had to race like they did, they’d all go home crying to their mommas.
Racing today way out of hand, everything is generic and there is no Racing Racing unless one buys a CC. It’s all cookies in a jar all made the same and the one who has the most money wins………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………
Stewart missed The Chase by a few points last year after being the defending champ. So what did NASCAR do? Made it 12 drivers instead of 10. I don’t think Jeffy should gripe about anything pertaining to The Chase.

It’s called giving his opinion, a very good one at that.

What was so good about his answer ???
Yes of course he can have an opinion but the point he tried to make was how unstable the point system is and how history can not really define a place to gauge his accomplishments.
To me that sounds like whining about how unfair NASCAR and history will and has treated his 4 championships.
No problem with the issue of a 5th championship this year because he just gave up the win to the better driver, the 48 car. He said so in the post race interview. He said ” its over this year”
Every time he opens up his mouth, somebody has to say he’s whining. He’s not “griping” about anything here, he was asked a question and he answered it. It makes a lot of sense if you actually take the time to read it and think about it.
If i were jeff i would set out of about 6 races next year .He should be able to at least slide in at 12th place. then he can get serious!why get a 250 point lead if they are going to take it from you
