Jarrett says he’s returning to MWR with UPS for 2008

Dale Jarrett is puzzled by reports that he could retire at the end of the season. Not only does he plan to continue racing for Michael Waltrip Racing next season, but he also says that sponsor UPS is solidly on board with the #44 team. He also dismisses talk that longtime Jarrett sponsor UPS is considering leaving the team. While he says the company is asking fair questions and keeping an eye on things, he expresses no concern that the sponsor could bolt at the end of this season.
As to his own status, the 50-year-old former champion laughed about reports that he could retire at the end of this year. He says that he knew this was going to be a process of building a team and the he remains committed to just that. He wants to build the team to the level that someone will want to replace him when he does decide to stop driving.

He needs to “drive the truck” into the sunset and let some talent get behind the wheel
To bad he can’t see the sun is setting on that old UPS truck…
I think the UPS truck has more of a chance of making a damn race than MWR’s equipment.
It’s not him, it’s the equipment. It’s a new team built from the ground up. Nothing spectacular happens overnight and if it had, it would have fizzled out quicker than it started…ask Newman, Kahne, Edwards and all those other “burst on the scene like a mother lode” drivers…where are they now?? Good things come to those who wait….
At this point, I think he’s much better in the broadcast booth than on the track.
It’s part equipment and part driver. Jarret hasn’t done anything good since he caused the big one at the Pepsi 400 four or five years ago. Remember the one where the ambulance followed him as he walked down pit road?
hang it up dude! you are so old you arnt even gray any more you are chrome! you know what tell the team to hang it up. the whole team is two has beens and two never will bees.
GIVE HIM THE RIGHT CAR AND HE WILL WIN SOME RACES . HE HAS WON ALOT BEFORE .
GIVE HIM THE RIGHT CAR AND HE WILL WIN SOME RACES . HE HAS WON ALOT BEFORE . GOOD LUCK JARRETT
It is a 3 part problem, #1 New car make (first year in Cup) #2 New team (with 3 cars, no easy feet) #3 Dale is past his prime. That said Dale is still capable of running good at certain tracks when his equipment is good and MWR is running better lately so with the past champion pervisionals to use at the start of next year he should be able to get into the top 35 in the early part of the season Question is can he stay there. If he doesn’t do any better next year he should retire reather than keep missing racer on speed.
