Jack Roush says Ford ready to take on Toyota

Jack Roush said that Ford Motor Co. is increasing its investment in NASCAR in a major way, to meet the Toyota threat. And Roush isn’t backing down from his long-held belief that Toyota’s deep pockets will be a big issue in stock-car racing.
“Ford has stepped up, Ford is giving us everything we will need - parts, equipment and staff, and technical support,” Roush said yesterday during NASCAR’s media tour stop at his Concord shops. “NASCAR, by limiting the testing (by denying teams access to tires), has forced teams to do things in the shops. If you can’t get the tires, you can’t test. So you have to find a way to simulate things, to bench-race things in the shop. And that costs much more money than it costs to test a car at a track.
“I have made a commitment with Ford to spend about $10 million in additional investment; so I’ve already gone deep, with new equipment and technical experts. And Ford is helping. Obviously, the situation at Ford is tough right now, but they’ve made the commitment to NASCAR’s Ford teams.”
Roush vowed to take the fight straight to Toyota.
“Toyota will find that these teams will not wither in its path,” he said. “They’d better give us their best shot, because we’ll be giving as good as we take.”

Hey Jack make sure toyota will not win any races this season.
We dont need toyota in this sport. This is the worst thing nascar can do.
This is an amercian sport and we cant let these cheep cars take over.
Thats pretty amusing John. So a Ford F250 built in Canada is an American truck and a Honda Accord built in Indianna is a foreign car? I think the days of American cars and imports have all messed into world cars. A large percentage of most American cars have parts made overseas. Mercedes has a Alabama plant , BMW has a South Carolina plant , Nissans from Tennessee , Honda’s and Toyotas from Ohio and Indiana…all built by Americans. So how can you say whats an American car and whats a foreign car. I only drive Fords…my choice…by a Ford 500 is really a reskidded Volvo…thats just life in the 21st century.
I really dont care that nissans, toyota, and honda are built here in amerciai still dont like them and the only reason they are being built in amercia is that people are buying them for there good gas miles and thats it really. no thats not the 21 century. I tell you why if you why if you take away toyota good gas mileage then we will see who is on top and it wont be toyota, nissan, and honda.
Jack, I’m on your side. Your plan of attack looks as though it might work.. now lobby with NASCAR to allow past champions to no longer have a guaranteed starting spot. Thus keeping Big moneyfrom buying past champions starting spots… Or maybe change it to the car owner.. All that money couldn’t help M. W. he was 59th in practice…
Is thats the American way, John - keep the competition out and be insulting while doing it? Dan Gurney built his own car and went toe to toe with the world’s best, including a Japanese company, in F1 in the 60s. Do we not have Gurney’s balls anymore? We need special rules like the WWE or something? Pathetic.
Why’s it so hard for people like you to concede that Japanese automakers make a very good product? What are you afraid of?
As I said in the other thread, we’ve got new enemies now. Ones that want you and your family dead, dead, dead. Be nice to the Japanese, they’re our friends.
Here we go again HAHA This is the last thing i am saying about this topic. Maybe you would unstand me if you were born here in amercia. Good Product thats nuts. you dont know what good is then, i must say.comment on this after you drive these cars Dodge, chrysler, ford, pontiac, not to mench German cars. And its not that i am afraid of the japanese, i tell you why first thing we have the power sec thing would be the style thrid thing are cars look a whole lot better forth thing is are cars are the safety ones out there. And if thats not enought for you then i dont know what else to say to make you change your mind. And they are not our friends you dont know anything about that . They are still our enemies. so you are willing to forgive them for what they did to us. ok just for your info if we wanted to end this right now we could, but i think its to early to do anything about that.you cant trust anyone anymore. look at Russ, and china we thought they were our friends and look what they are doing trying to show off. so yea. Have a good day Glenstaqo
Born here in America? What are you talking about? I’m Red, White and Blue all the way through, borther.
Driven them all, John. Put down the flag and get to work, the world is closing in and we better get better.
I think what people are afraid of is Toyota outspending the competition and turning NASCAR into the IRL where you have 2 (now 1) manufacture.
Toyota will never take over Nascar!!! Chevrolet is the dominate one, Chevy ain’t gonna let some piece of shit brand like Toyota take over. Chevy put Ford in there place when they tried to rule Nascar, but the top dog of Nascar is and always will be She-ever-lay!!!
