In Memoriam: Bruce Shawn Kennedy, MD
November 10, 1953 — July 10, 2007
Dr. Bruce S. Kennedy (pictured with his wife Lesa France Kennedy), 53, a prominent plastic and reconstructive surgeon and active member of the Daytona Beach, Florida, community, passed away suddenly on July 10, 2007. A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. (ET) on Friday, July 13, 2007 at Seabreeze United Church of Christ in Daytona Beach, Fla. with Rev. Don Epps officiating.
A graduate of Tufts Dental and Medical School, and the University of Miami, Dr. Kennedy maintained a private practice in Ormond Beach, Florida, and was an active member on the Board of Commissioners for the Halifax Community Health System. He joined the Board in 2002, and served in numerous capacities including Treasurer since 2004. He was also a member of the Daytona Beach Planning Board, the Florida Medical Association and the Volusia County Medical Society.
Dr. Kennedy was born in Berkeley, California, and relocated to Daytona Beach in 1986. Dr. Kennedy was a selfless philanthropist, frequently donating both time and money to various organizations to help promote the Daytona Beach area. He was very active in several local community organizations including The Stewart Marchman Center.
In addition to his many professional accomplishments and charitable endeavors, Dr. Kennedy had a passion for the sport of auto racing and was a well regarded member of the NASCAR community. He was also an avid outdoorsman and fitness enthusiast, who greatly enjoyed fishing, biking, water sports and triathlons.
Dr. Kennedy was first and foremost a loving husband and father, dedicated to his wife of nearly twenty years, Lesa; and son, Benjamin (Ben). He is also survived by his parents, Don and Nancy Kennedy; sisters, Laura Nagel and Jane Cozart; and brother, Patrick.

In Memoriam: Michael Klemm
April 8, 1951 — July 10, 2007
Michael “Mike” Klemm, 56, a NASCAR pilot for 21 years in Daytona Beach, Florida, passed away on July 10, 2007. A Memorial Service will be held at 5 p.m. on Friday, July 13, 2007 at Seabreeze United Church of Christ in Daytona Beach, Fla. with Rev. Don Epps officiating.
A graduate of Embry Riddle University, Mike enjoyed a 21 year career as a NASCAR pilot. A hobby turned profession, Mike always considered himself lucky to do what he loved as a profession. Flying was one of the loves of his life. At the time of his death, Mike was in the midst of building his own airplane, which had been a life-long dream.
Mike was born in Lima, Ohio and served six years in the U.S. Navy. He moved to Florida to attend Embry Riddle Aeronautical University, then married and stayed in the area to raise his family. He loved to travel and was an avid hiker. He belonged to the Florida Trail Assn and had hoped to hike the entire Florida Trail System.
Married for 24 years, Mike was a devoted husband and father to his wife and three sons. “His kids were everything to Mike.” He is survived by Wendy, who enjoyed 24 married years together, his three sons Rob and daughter-in-law Leila, Dan and Andy, his father and stepmother Alan and Jane Klemm, his sisters Julie Fortman, Amy Bruskotter, Jill Klemm, his brothers Steve, Brian, Eric and wife Beth, and Chris and wife Jenny, numerous brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws, nieces and nephews.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the American Heart Association, 555 W.
