Hylton misses Daytona due to broken clutch

James Hylton’s dream of competing in the Daytona 500 at the age of 72 came up nine laps short during Thursday’s Duels at Daytona. The combination of a faulty clutch and a late-race restart foiled Hylton’s effort to earn a starting berth in Sunday’s Daytona 500.
“I’m disappointed because I was locked in the eighth place there, and that was where I needed to be,” Hylton said. “And then the dadgum caution come out. I knew I was a dead duck because the clutch worked, but it was like you had to bleed the clutch. You couldn’t shift. I had to shift without the clutch. And you can’t give these guys a half-car length.”

James Good Job!!! I’am glad to see that he attempted this, not too many guys his age would even think about doing this. I got to meet James last summer at a ARCA race and he ans his crew are some of the nicest people you will ever meet. I hope he is going to attempt to race a few more race this year would be nice to see him try.
