The close Daytona 500 finish along with the controversial penalties from last month have sparked ticket sales for NASCAR races at Texas Motor Speedway and Lowe’s Motor Speedway, according to Humpy Wheeler, the president of the Charlotte track as well as track operator Speedway Motorsports Inc.
“When you’ve got as many tickets as we’ve got to sell when you’ve got two dates, the drama has got to continue,” Wheeler said this past weekend at Las Vegas. “I have a feeling that this Montoya thing is going to get bigger than anybody thinks about. “If he wins a Cup race, if he wins a couple of Busch races, if he gets in a conflict with somebody, it’s going to be something.”
