Landon Cassill, a 17-year-old senior at Cedar Rapids Jefferson High School, has signed a contract to drive for NASCAR’s Hendrick Motorsports, he told The Gazette Tuesday.
Cassill joins a powerhouse race team that includes Nextel Cup champions #48-Jimmie Johnson and #24-Jeff Gordon, as well as #5-Kyle Busch and #25-Casey Mears.
“I feel really, really honored to be part of this organization,” Cassill said. “I’m honored to be in such an elite group.” it says to “See more of this story in Wednesday’s Gazette.” The Gazette Landon will move to North Carolina in March to begin working full time for Hendrick Motorsports.

what series is he gonna be in?
Soapbox!
I would also like to know what series he is going to drive in.
Wasn’t all owners told they could only have 4 teams ??
hey ya’ll he’s 17 he wont drive any nascar’s big 3 for at least a year thats why its a dev deal who knows he might drive for a team like mb2 or haas or a team like that that hendrick gives support to until a ride opens up at hendricks.
Cassill will probably drive Arca and whatever Busch will be
called next year. In my opinion Kyle will be either fired or
quit by 2009 and Cassill would fit right in. That is if Mark
Martin doesn’t sign with HMS. Depends on how long Cassill’s
contract last and then another team can grab him with the
right money. This kid WILL be a star. Not as good as Gordon, but will be almost as good as JJ. Busch just doesn’t fit in this team.
