Rick HendrickHendrick Motorsports has verbally agreed to a five-year contract with General Motors, keeping NASCAR’s most powerful organization in Chevrolets through 2012.

“We’re done,” team owner Rick Hendrick said after Sunday’s Nextel Cup race at Watkins Glen International. “We haven’t signed it, but we’ve verbally agreed.”

GM is in the last year of all of its contracts with teams in the Nextel Cup series. Re-signing HMS was key, particularly with speculation that Joe Gibbs Racing may be leaving for Toyota.

    Hoper they like the way the back end of a Toyota looks, because they will be looking at one often.

    And how many races has Toyota won in Cup ?? = 0.00
    And how many for Chevy in Cup = 13 of the 14 races ran this year.
    I don’t think they to much to worry about from a “Did I qualify to race yet Company”
    “Retard” that’s funny Vinny

    Can you imagine what Tony and Denny would say if Gibbs goes to Toyota?

    I hope Tony Stewart likes trading in his corvette for a toyota camry after this year is over.

    I am sure if Tony and Denny didn’t want to do it, they would make it be known, at least known
    to Gibbs. Toyota needs somebody, they are probably putting a pretty good deal out there for bait
    and maybe Gibbs is the only one too take the bait.

    Like a real fun date…Chevy is going down!

    When Toyota becomes what they should be in Cup they will only have the GM notes from Gibbs to thank for getting them there quicker or possibly getting them there at all.

    Word on the street is that Hendrick only signed for 5 years because that is Honda’s timetable to leave IndyCar and come to Cup. Rick Hendrick is a diehard Honda car dealer and is assisting them to get it together so they don’t look as foolish as Toyota did. You heard it hear first.

    I’m still sticking to big ass Hendrick to try and woo Stewart if his contract with GM can’t be broken and he has to find a Chevy team.. and don’t put it past Hendrick to kick Johnson out of there for a bigger name like Tony..
    i’m sticking to my prediction. Look what assface did to Busch..
    ::shakes head::

    Are you kidding me? Amanda, do you watch NASCAR? Do you honestly think that Hendrick would kick Johnson out for Tony? Jimmie has finished in the top 5 in points EVERY year as a driver in Cup; Has Tony? Tony has 32 career wins in 9 yrs in Cup vs. Jimmies 27 wins in 7 years. Don’t get me wrong I like Tony, he is an awesome racecar driver. But Hendrick isnt dumb enough to Let Johnson go!
