Hendrick plane crash lawsuits head to trial

A trial concerning the October 2004 Hendrick Motorsports plane crash is scheduled to begin in January in U.S. District Court in Greensboro, N.C.
The trial involved lawsuits brought by three widows of men killed in the crash, Dianne Dorton, Linda Turner and Tracy Lathram.
At issue is who bears fault for the accident. According to the National Transportation Safety Board and court documents, the crash happened when the pilots overshot the runway and then didn’t perform the proper missed-approach procedure. Government officials blame the pilots, while Hendrick and the widows blame, at least in part, the actions of the air-traffic controllers that were also cited in the NTSB report.
Ten people, including team owner Rick Hendrick’s brother, son and two nieces, were killed in the plane crash on the way to a Nextel Cup race at Martinsville (Va.) Speedway.

No, Chris–Rick just wants closure.
I can’t even imagine how it must feel to lose your Brother, son, and two nieces–ON TOP OF losing a good friend in Randy Dorton, and then the sheer tradgedy of it all–losing 10 people in general.
Rick’s had a tough few years…
Cancer, Loss of his brother, son, and two nieces, and a few months before that he lost his father, Papa Joe.
Rick really does deserve all this positive publicity for HMS–he’s been through so much adversity and he’s overcome it all!
So kudos to Rick.

Litigation drains you. It’s hard to deal with and the other guy is hoping you’ve had enough and quit. Does anyone remember when Big Rick was going to jail for bribing Honda officials? He got cars other dealers couldn’t. When he was facing prison time, he became ill and the marrow donor stuff went into effect. Because he was sick, the feds backed off and a deal was struck. Then all of a sudden Big Rick’s illness was in remission. He didn’t have to serve any real time. He was healthy again. Coincidence? I want to believe he WAS sick but it almost sounds scripted. Like wrestling.
For the widows to file suit is an embarassment to themselves. This is no way to honor the memory of those lost in the accident. Pointing fingers these days is more prevelant than fining solutions. Shame on those who are involved in prosecuting this case.
Dianne Dorton is a snake in the grass, Randy was Rick’s best friend and she just used his death as an excuse to get to a large sum of Rick’s money in a lawsuit, just plain dirty….
It’s sad that when you have money, people try to bank (no pun intended) on any given moment to get it from you, it truely is the source of all evils, if Randy is looking down from heaven right now…I’m sure he is disgusted at his wife.
You people make me sick! If Rick was such a great friend to Randy then why is Rick being so crapy to Randy’s wife Dianne. Randy made HMS what it is today. I mean do you not think that they are still using Randys design?
Look, no one can change what happened to all the people who lost their lives but the people left behind should not be punished for someone elses mistake. Yes Rick lost a lot of family that day but he is the “owner” and he has to “pay” for the mistakes of his employees. That is just the price you pay when you are the Owner of a company.
What I am trying to say is, if my spouse past away I know that “The Best Friend” of my spouse would not just push me out of their life and say “ow well the heck with you”! And that is what Rick did to Dianne!
I thought they were all “Family” at HMS??
Well to the best of my knowledge that is not how you treat family!
And one more thing. . . NOT “IF” But WHEN Randy looks down from heaven I bet he is disgusted with his “Best Friend” for not taking care of his wife. And I am not just talking about $$$$$ and neather is Dianne! Come on people she just wants to be able to live her life just like you and I. Don’t forget she dosn’t have her “Family” anymore eather she dosn’t have her NASCAR (HMS) Family or her Husband! So what does that leave her????
