Hendrick crew chief fined for Busch Series violation

NASCAR has fined Hendrick Motorsports Busch Series crew chief Mike Bumgarner $10,000 for unapproved intake manifold modifications. Hendrick Motorsports said it plans to appeal.
The penalty, announced Wednesday, was lighter than anticipated after NASCAR confiscated the intake manifold following Kyle Busch’s win in the Yellow Transportation 300 on Saturday at Kansas Speedway. He will keep the win, and the team, which does not compete full time in the series, will not lose points.
“To say we’re confused about this situation would be an understatement,” team owner Rick Hendrick said in a statement. “The intake manifold that the team used was legal, and we look forward to presenting the facts to the National Stock Car Racing Commission.”
Hendrick Motorsports Vice President Doug Duchardt said Sunday that a sister manifold to the one confiscated had been inspected and approved in the past.

???? Was there really anything wrong with it? If it was modified than why no points, and only $10,000
this just says to the teams “I can modify my intake, get more Horse Power and Win the race, which will gain me more than the fine is. NASCAR’s penalty’s get more confusing all the time.
typical. Since it’s Hendricks, a slap on the wrist is fine.
Always a Hendrick car…Never a big penalty? *sniff* *sniff*
How many times has JJ crew chief missed races? HMS gets fined and crew chief supsended as much if not more than anyone.
Scooter, JJ and JG were fined 100 points and $100,000 dollars I believe.. it was the biggest fine this year so far.
You’re right RedDevil.
And it’s not right to blame Hendrick.
Blame individuals not the organization. Steve Letarte is CERTAINLY no Chad Knauss so don’t put the ‘plague’ on Hendrick as an organization.
Between Gibbs, Hendrick, Roush, and all the other teams/owners…. which one has the most violations?? This isn’t a trick question. If you combine all of the violations by the other teams, Hendrick will have more than ALL OF THE OTHERS combined. Coincidence??
every damn team finds away to mess with the car people, damn get it straight
>
Then why even have a fine?????????????
It hurt every team he ran againist in the field of Stock Cars that raced. I think the win should be taken away and in the future these things will STOP…………..
He will keep the win, and the team, which does not compete full time in the series, will not lose points.
