Kevin HarvickKevin Harvick has ignored Tony Stewart’s phone calls, assuming that Stewart wants to talk about and apologize for roughing up Harvick near the end of the Allstate 400 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway last Sunday.

“He’s called,” Harvick said Thursday. “I just haven’t answered.”

“The biggest disappointment was just how we weren’t able to finish second,” Harvick said. “We had the second-best car and wound up finishing seventh. Unfortunately, it was just a matter of time before he got by, and he just kind of caught me off guard.”

“I understand he probably made a mistake, but when you’re on the receiving end of it, it’s not a part that I … take lightly,” Harvick said. “We lost a chance to win the Brickyard 400. He was going to pass us. It was just a matter of time. For 15 laps side by side, changing the lead back and forth, and from my end, it just looks like he just got in a hurry and got a little bit frustrated because he couldn’t get by as easy as he wanted to.

“Things happen. It’s part of the sport, and I’m not going to sit up here and whine about it. It’s just something that happened. At some point it will go the other way, and you just hope that it’s not something that is harped upon if it goes that way.”

Harvick said the two racers will remain friends.

“I don’t think you let anything on the track effect your relationship off the race track,” Harvick said. “Obviously, you expect one thing to happen, and it happens another way. For me, it’s better to just take some time and think about things and just realize where we are and go from there.

“I wouldn’t think it would affect anything off the race track. I’ll get over it - at some point. And we’ll still be friends, and we’ll go from there.”

It’s called racing for the win, no one wrecked they just rubbed and bumped. if the shoe was on the other foot Harvick would have done the same thing.

  2. 2 mare

let Tony do the whinning! It’s not becoming to
    a sportsman anyway.

Let em beg you to talk to him…
not really mature but I’d be enjoying the hell out of it!
    LOL

what matters most is, Harvick said they’re gonna stay friends

  3. 3 angie

not very mature. but i guees if he had done to me, what he did to kevin, i’d be a littel peeved off too.

  4. 4 Jeff Fan

Kudos to Kevin for keeping his mouth shut and not whining!!!! Homodepot would whine if it had been the other way around. Yes homodepot had a fast car but he did what he always does in typical homodepot fashion wrecks somebody to win. Because he’s a jerk like that! I’m sure he’s just whining away on his Sirius radio program (he does all the time) about the fact that Kevin hasn’t talked
    to him. BOOO HOO!

  5. 5 Sm0ke Fan

Yeah I would be mad but this is childish! GROW UP! I think he is acting like the people
in Nascar who make up the sissy rules! You are both grown and life happens. Deal with it
and get over it OR don’t deal with it and it’ll get worse!

  6. 6 “#1″ Smoke Fan

Haha! I think this is funny! It’s the way it goes when you race Tony for the win at the Brickyard! What else would you expect? That’s what makes Smoke the best out there! I think it’s funny though that Kevin agrees that he would have done the same thing to Tony if it were him…but you know what? It WASN’T him! If he says he’s cool with it why doesn’t he man up and just answer the phone! Tony is being the more mature guy here. So you ALL need to quit calling Tony the whiner!

    OHH… Jeff Gordon blows!

  7. 7 Breanna.

Aaaw, sounds like it’s Kevin’s time of the month. I mean seriously,
grow up. Harvick’s my third favorite but this is just childish. If
you’re going to mouth off when all he did was bump into you a little
bit at the end of the race, without even spinning you, you should
definitely be picking up the phone when he still has the
common courtesy to call and apologize.

  8. 8 gigolo george

Kevin is no angel. He got into the driver’s side of Tony’s car during the race. I guess he musta forgot. Quit pouting like a little bitch Kevin. Move on.

  9. 9 Jayson

Y’all how is this childish? I’m proud of my driver for not kissing another drivers ass and acting like it is
done and overwith when it is not. Besides, this was for a win at Indy, not your average joe’s office bullshit.
Just because someone apoligizes doesn’t mean it is suddenly ok, that makes me wonder how some of y’all really
think if you think that just because someone apoligizes that it is all the sudden ok. If someone commits murder
it is suddenly justified if they say their sorry? HELL NO!

  10. 10 Axel Foley

Wow. This shocks me hearing this from Happy Harvick. I don’t fault him for being sad but it does disappoint me a bit the way this is going down. I mean, a little banging and rubbing is good racing. Also, Harvick slammed into the 20 car after the checkers… I thought it was a good natured “good race” kinda thing… Guess not. This just really disappoints me.

  11. 11 Breanna.

No one said he had to play hunky-dory, but completely ignoring the
call and not even giving him the chance to apologize? Is stupid and
childish. And so is making a comparison between a bump that didn’t
even end Harvick’s race and murder. Besides, how many of you would
be bi__hing about Tony’s immaturity if the tables were turned?

  12. 12 gigolo george

After looking at Kevin’s recent picture, I’ve discovered either he’s balding or his forehead is getting bigger. Avacor worked for Derrike Cope and it can work for you too Kevin. If Kevin really wanted to get even with Tony he could put him in a Busch car with a grenade for a motor. It could blow up at any time. Like on the pace lap. Or he could just give him the biggest junk in the stable and laugh every time he (Harvick) laps him.

  13. 13 Legendracer50

Yall are ridiculous to think Harvick is being inmature. I race personally and i could tell tony turned up right into harvick before entering on purpose tryin to stuff him in the wall or mess up his car.

  14. 14 tracey

I THINK THIS IS ALL CHILDISH GAMES

  15. 15 Anonymous

to the 6th poster, well if he blows u must swallow well anyway boohoo to harvick he never did have the car to win

  16. 16 Anonymous

LIKE WE ALL SAY “RUBBIN IS RACING”

  17. 17 George Thompson

The biggest thing here is Tony didnt need to destroy Kevin’s chances at a good finish since his car was much faster and he had position over him, it was not cool and very unneeded.

  18. 18 Breanna.

Regardless of circumstances, it’s entirely immature to not answer
the phone. Again, he could tell him to f__k off for all I care, but
ignoring it and playing the brat card is just stupid. And, I say
again, who would be calling Tony a prick if the roles were reversed?

  19. 19 Chris

I just LOVE how people are complaining about Harvick ignoring the phone calls. What about Tony? So he can be a b!+ch, but Kevin nor anyone else can’t? What goes around, comes around. Tony, a little hint of advice. Karma is a b!+ch!

  20. 20 Anonymous

That was good old-fashioned stock car racing. I know you hate it when I bring up open wheel racing…but, if you don’t want the contact, then race open wheel. Those fenders on the stock cars are there to clear out some space! Especially at the Brickyard 400!

  21. 21 Chris

BTW, Kevin Harvick is the man! Unlike Tony, he has matured very well in the past few years. He is also another driver who will speak his mind. I guess it’s not okay for anyone other than Fat B@$+@/’

  22. 22 Nascarfan4life24

They both are CHODES with bad attitudes!

  23. 23 Fate300m

Is it safe to say that these two are NASCAR’s biggest babies?

Did anyone see Harvick bump Tony hard after the race? And there was no fine. It wasn’t a love tap, it was a “You b@$t@rd! You f$&%*#@ up my car!”

Harvick was giving him hell until tony smashed Harvicks front driver side quarter panel.

Now dont get me wrong, I am not a supporter of either driver but I get tired of hearing these to go at it.

  24. 24 Breanna.

Chris-When has Tony ever ignored calls for almost a week after someone
banged into his car? Especially when it was at the END of the race,
for the win, and he didn’t even spin him. It’s not like Tony mashed
him into the wall on the thirtieth lap or something. And what everyone
seems to keep skipping over is, Harvick doesn’t have to invite
him over for tea or something
. Just pick up the d__n phone and
scream at him if he likes, but pick up.

Nascarfan4life24-Just shut up already. Any Jeff Gordon fan has no
right to talk about having an incorrect attitude for the world of
racing. The guy’s one of the most talented in a long, long while,
but he whines, blames things on everybody else and, I hate to break
it to you, but he treats track personnel like sh__. He started
screaming at the ambulance crew at Watkins while they were transporting
him to the infield care center because they couldn’t cross the
track right when he wanted because cars were very close-by and it’s
track protocol. So seriously, give it a rest.

Fate300m-When else have they ever gone at it? And I mean that as a
legitamite question, because the last “major rivalry” moment I remember
with Harvick was the 03 Richmond night race with Ricky Rudd on pit road.
I mean, Tony and Harvick are usually friends.

Oh, and I love how 99% of people on the site want “Nascar to go back
to the old days” when it comes to rules about everything else, but
when they bump and bang and race like they used to back in the “real
days of racing” suddenly that’s wrong. Sh__ or get off the pot; if
there were a lot less rules like there was back then there would be
a lot more stuff like this going on because every move they make isn’t
being strictly governed and they can actually race. Because, and I don’t
know if ya’ll have never been to a local track or what, this
stuff happens every week at every short track in the country. It’s just
part of racing. As long as you don’t spin the guy or mash him into the
wall it’s no big deal. Nascar drivers are just pampered. And Anonymous
actually makes a really good point. If you don’t like using the
bumpers that are given to you, go to open-wheel.

  25. 25 just an observer

it was a great race and look at all the posts. nascar is getting attention. who cares who hit who. was nice to see a race where you didn’t have to wait for several seconds to see who came in 2nd. long as it wasn’t jeff gordon or any of the hedricks bunch, let em’ win!

  26. 26 gigolo george

Kevin should ask Mark Martin about the Daytona 500 finish.

  27. 27 love racin

did i watch the same race as you guys. tony came down on kevin first, that took kevin from a second place finish to seventh. yes i did see what kevin did after the race, which wasnt good. but hey i probably would have done the same thing.

as far as kevin not answering the phone, he said he wanted to sit and think about it for awhile. would you rather him answer the phone in anger and lose his friendship with tony. how many of you have had friends do stuff to you and then pick up the phone as soon as they called. i say kudo’s for kevin for wanting to take some time. besides if he doesnt want to answer the phone, that’s his business.

  28. 28 KK

love racin you’ve got it right. Oh and let’s see a few weeks ago when Tony was asked if he had spoken to his own teammate Denny after what happened at the race the week before he said ” I’ve been busy” so yeah Breanna he doesn’t talk and make things right until he’s good and ready, and that was when he was blaming Denny for it and it was clearly Tony who hit Denny and took them both out,and I don’t blame Harvick for not wanting to talk to him yet.
I wish Nascar would do this all the time , let the guys handle it as long as they don’t put them in the wall.
Wish everyone on here would stop whinning like they say all the drivers do, maybe you all should actually start reading what you write.

  29. 29 Sm0ke Fan

Yes, Fate300m, I did see that!

Everyone on here is assuming that Tony wants to say I’m sorry to KH! Maybe that’s not the case at all!
Maybe Tony is calling to ask him what the f!(% he was thinking bumping him after the race. Maybe Tony wants to
tell Mr. Happy that they are not friends anymore because of it.

And yet, even as I typed that, I could not do it with a strait face because it reminds me of the fights my 7 year
old has on the playground at school. BUT NOOOOOOO, it’s not childish!

  30. 30 roxie

oh wah kevin. Get over it. The last laps, there are no friends. if it was the other way around, he wouldnt be so upset

  31. 31 Legendracer50

lol all of you are amussing. Tony clearly turned right into Harvick before entering the turn. Rubbin is not racing anymore with how aero dynamic these cars are now of days. You cant rub fenders like u did 10 to 15 yrs ago.

  32. 32 SmokeRulez20

quit cryin Harvick!! come on be a man

  33. 33 gigolo george
