Gordon’s team penalized for Daytona infraction

NASCAR has issued penalties and fines to the #7 team in the Nextel Cup Series, as a result of rule infractions found last week at Daytona. The #7 Ford, driven by Robby Gordon, was found to be in violation of Sections 12-4-A (actions detrimental to stock car racing); 12-4-Q (car, car parts, components and/or equipment used do not conform to NASCAR rules); and 20-6.7C (8) (unapproved camera shell) of the 2007 NASCAR rule book.
The violations were found during opening day inspection on July 5. Gordon has been penalized 25 championship driver and 25 championship owner points. Crew chief Gene Nead has been fined $25,000 and placed on NASCAR probation until Dec. 31.

- Four Busch Series teams penalized for Montreal infractions
- Kurt Busch escapes suspension, gets fine and points penalty from NASCAR
- Stewart fined 25 G’s, docked 25 points by NASCAR for foul language
- NASCAR hands down points penalty and suspension to the #2
- Jim Beam appeals to NASCAR to reconsider Gordon penalty

I wonder if the unapproved shell was there to boost performance or just another example of an incompetent team.
My guess is the team must be as incompetent as Robby! What benefit could there possibly be to an unapproved camera housing? I can’t imagine it would shed enough weight to make any difference, would it?
see thats how you no nascar is turing gay and stuff when they do stuff like that for a camra
2 points. #1 I wonder how many 24 Gordon haters jumped at the headline hoping
to bash him nly to be disappointed that is was Doofus Robby’s team?
#2 I guess Kenny Wallace was wrong about NASCAR never catching a back of the
pack team cheating. NASCAR really must be interested in eliminating
creativity with the COT. I hate that. Part of what made NASCAR
great was innovation and ingenuity of car chiefs and crew chiefs. NASCAR….the new IROC.
Hey ian i got scared when it said gordon but once i saw robbys pic i was like ahh its the fag HAHA
Thats all messed up!! Only 25 championship points, 25 owner points and 25,000 dollars!! I wonder how many point would have been penalized if Jeff Gordon or Jimmie Johnson or even Jr. let me think here!! probubly 100 point and 100,000 dollars!! just like last time!! NASCAR is really getting retarded!!
really, be real! Robby is won of the most talented people in Nascar, wears every hat, shows up, is able to to suceed. is able to do it all, I will say if he only wanted do drive Nascar he may be better, but he does everything well. I live my dreams thru him! GO ROBBY!
The camera shells are tweaked to try to gain any type of aero advantage since they sit up on top of the roof. Hardly as big a deal as messing with the COT, which NASCAR said they clearly would not put up with. Hence the smaller fine etc. And as far as taking away creativity etc, I would assume you would rather go back to when every race only had a handful of cars on the lead lap at the finish and you had drivers who won 10-15 races a year. Those days were about exciting as watching grass grow.
I’m a thinking robby’s looking at TNT about now…
We have all the big mouths on here and I bet Robby could probably out perform you guys in anything you could think of , including taking care of yout woman , to put it nicely.
Yeah except Ian and Sal would out do him in a gay bar.
Able to succeed! Is that why he threw out some roll bar padding and single handedly changed the out come of a race and possibly the entire championship?
whats with all the gay comments? Axel you must have forgotton Dale JR. spinning out on purpose because he needed a yellow not to go a lap down

Listen people Robbie is doing what everyone said couldnt be done so give him his props.
Upshift, what race are you talking about?
Axel….DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — Dale Earnhardt Jr. may have only gotten a one-day stay of penalties from NASCAR officials for intentionally spinning his No. 8 Budweiser Chevrolet to cause a caution in the Food City 500.
“We’re still in the process of reviewing what took place,” NASCAR spokesman Herb Branham said early Tuesday evening. “We’re gathering all the information and examining all the details, including what was said, post-race.”

The incident, which was almost comical at the time, looms as the sport’s latest budding controversy.
With 69 laps remaining and leader and eventual race winner Kurt Busch coming up behind him to put him a lap down, Earnhardt spun his car out in Turn 2, bringing out the event’s eighth caution.
Earnhardt reportedly told his crew on his in-car radio that he had intentionally spun his car — which was handling poorly due to loose lug nuts — to prevent himself from losing a lap.
Haha.. I remember that. I’m not defending him so don’t get so defensive.. Lots of drivers have done that. Newman, Johnson and even Harvick did it and won a race… Robby just has a habit of negatively affecting other people’s lives with his cautions. My mom is a casual observer to racing and she has commented on Robby’s caution habits, (whether intentional or not) he causes many. If I’m remembering correctly, Robby’s attempt to stay on the lead lap by throwing out that roll bar padding didn’t even wind up being successful.
I know he can drive but I’m not sure his ability fits stock car racing. I also respect the effort it takes to run an independent team but his team definitely doesn’t fit the word “competitive” or “successful”.
Dale Jr. doesn’t spin out on purpose…he REALLY is that bad of a driver.
