Jeff GordonJeff Gordon will become the youngest active driver to reach 500 career starts this weekend when he takes the green flag in the SYLVANIA 300 at New Hampshire International Speedway.

This career milestone will be downplayed, however, because this weekend’s event also marks the first race in the ‘Chase for the NASCAR Nextel Cup.’

I gotta say.I was one of those guys who didn’t like Jeff Gordon, Don’t really know why, But the man has earned my respect for what that’s worth, A true Champion in every way that matters, I root for tony Tony Stewart, But Jeff is a credit to our sport, I’ve seen his sportsmanship on the track, He gets to the front and he does it clean, Makes racing fun to watch. Here’s to 500 more.

Anonymous! you do know! do you want to buy the car still in the box? 1/24 scale action elite? i was 12 when i bought the car

Enjoy your 500 start Gordo you have earned the respect due you as a driver who has hit a number of races run that is impressive.
Domi your right; he deserves recognition for this milestone event in his career. But not because he is the Messiah of NASCAR.
Just because he got to 500 and that’s all… I would say the same for any other driver.
The true driving forces of NASCAR are dead or retired…

It was in 1990 Todd, and was a Pontiac at that. If you know so much what did Jeff do when he was a little kid at the dirt tracks to earn money? Its considered the most sought after Gordon memorobilia.

  16. 16 Domi

Ok so I just came back and saw your question and really hating the fact I couldnt answer it myself, lol. But anyways Im just curious to know why do you speak of Jeff the way you do and have a collectable of his? Do you have it on Ebay? Im interested.

  17. 17 Domi

Oh not that I didnt know the answer but because somene had already answered it.

  18. 18 gkirb

Jeff isn’t my favorite driver but he has done more in 500 starts than almost anyone in Nascar so Congrats Jeff

  19. 19 Domi

NOW THats whats up stand up people and recognize. This is what you call good sportmanship. Theres nothing wrong with it. I myself give other drivers their props when they deserve it. Heck I was actually pulling for Jr. to make the chase this year. It isnt gonna happen but oh well hell be a teammate next year and well see him run with some really good equipment. Aight gotta get back to work now you guys have a good one.

    Domi…….#24 fan 4 eva

Jeff Gordon is one of the best drivers Nascar has ever had. He will win more championships and could drive in any racing league that he choose to. So…congrats Jeff!!!

  22. 22 Big Earl Racing #31 Jeff and Robby Gordon fan

I’m a really hugh fan of jeff gordon and he does earn the respect to be known for being the youngest to have 500 starts.

hot rod todd, it seems like to all of us you have a crush on gordon but yer pride in bashing him is trying to hide it? and any real fan of jeff’s would have his 1/24th scale dirt late model he ran at Eldora Speedway this year and still did better than tony who owns it.

  23. 23 hot rod todd

hey big what ever gordon fan, you can callit what ever you like. i got the car along time ago from some one who said this guy is going to be good you will see. i have seen him do all of his wining in the cup series. that does not make me a fan at all, i just happen to be one of the guys who love to hate him. so no i would not have the car you spoke about. it would be cool to have i collect ALL cup cars! I have all most 200 1/24 scare cars. from the 80s to last year (no cot’s yet) Domi you should be able to find them on ebay i looked about 2 mounths ago and you can find them for about 40 to 80 bucks, that cheap that i have go for 100 bucks new.

Jeff Gordon website!!!!!! And no on the car..thanks anyway. The only memorabilia I have is Mario Andretti’s autograph on the ticket stub from his last Indy Car race at Laguna Seca. To me….it’s priceless.

  25. 25 hot rod todd

Jacob Mason no i dont know, nor care much, but iam sure you will let all know any way. thanks!

  26. 26 hot rod todd

Anonymous iam not into indy but that would be a good one to have. his is a GREAT!

  27. 27 Anonymous

Think it’s worth anything? Just Curious.

  28. 28 hot rod todd

its all about what its worth to the person who wants it. for sure sum people would pay more than others. when he is dead it will go through the roof! trust me i have and had a few #3 cars, news papers, and other things that went for 10 times what i paid for them.

  29. 29 Ben

i was one off those fans who love to hate Jeff Gordon but we all gotta face that he is the best in the business and show him some respect if it wasn’t for this chase he would of had his 5th title and be working on his 6th but thanks to the chase he is still at 4 soo congrats to gordon on his 500th start and go Jeff BUrton steal the title away from hendrick lol

  30. 30 Andy

I didn’t like Gordon at first when I got into the sport.

Since then I’ve changed my opinion about him.

So I give him all my respect, congradulations Mr. Gordon!

  31. 31 Andy

And that 1990 67 pontiac was in the Busch series so i dont believe that counts for this milestone.

  32. 32 gigolo george

Only 400 more starts and he ties Ricky Rudd!!!

  33. 33 hot rod todd

    its his bush rookie car.

Now this is a great driver, whether you like him or not, the numbers tell the story.

By the Numbers starts this week with another milestone in the illustrious career of Jeff Gordon, who will make the 500th Cup Series start at New Hampshire International Speedway.

It marks the second consecutive week a driver has reached the 500-race plateau. Bobby Labonte, the 2000 Cup champion, made his 500th career start last week at Richmond.

Gordon made his series debut in the final race of the 1992 season at Atlanta, which also marked the final race for Richard Petty. He hasn’t missed a race since and his four championships trail only the seven each of Petty and Dale Earnhardt.

The numbers are what they are, and in this case they are staggering. He won titles in 1995, 1997, 1998 and 2001. He has finished in the top-five in points eight times in 14 full years on the circuit and has finished outside the top 10 just twice.

He has 79 career victories, 228 top-five and 308 top-10 finishes, and has amassed more than $87.5 million in career earnings.

In 2007, Gordon leads all drivers with 15 top-fives and 21 top-10s and held the top spot in points for 22 consecutive weeks until they were reset for the Chase. His four wins were still good enough to give him the second seed.

His winning percentage and the number of times he has been in the top 5 in points is awesome!
