Gillett Evernham Motorsports today announced a technical, manufacturing and marketing services agreement with Robby Gordon Motorsports which will race Dodges in the 2008 Sprint Cup season. Gordon’s team will use Gillett Evernham Motorsports Dodge engines when practice begins next week at Daytona International Speedway.
BAM Racing and Petty Enterprises also use Gillett Evernham Motorsports engines and receive technical assistance. Gillett Evernham Motorsports fields cars for drivers #9-Kasey Kahne, #19-Elliott Sadler and #10-Patrick Carpentier in the Sprint Cup Series as well as a Nationwide Series entry.
“I feel this agreement with Gillett Evernham Motorsports helps make the learning curve of the COT little bit easier to navigate,” said Gordon whose 28th-place finish in owner points was the best of any single-car team in 2007. “I like what they have going on over there and I think both organizations will benefit. As an owner I want to do what is best for my employees and sponsors.” Gordon’s move to Dodge comes after one year with Ford. “Ford has been very good to me, and this move is not a reflection on our relationship at all,” said Gordon. “Ford was planning on supporting me, and even increasing its engineering support for my program in 2008. However, I felt that I needed to make this move to help put my team in a more stable financial situation in terms of marketing and sponsorship help.”
Based in Charlotte North Carolina, Robby Gordon Motorsports is home to the No. 7 Dodge. With sponsorship from Jim Beam, Menards, Mapei, and Camping World Robby Gordon will run the entire 2008 Sprint Cup series schedule.

say what? Come on robby, you’re smarter than that! You could of at least stayed ford and tapped on rouch’s shoulder for help . You were doing pretty good on your own!
2006: Chevrolet
2007: Ford
2008: Dodge
2009: Toyota?….. with help from Gibbs.
Come on Robby. Make up your mind. Or better yet. Drive for somebody else. Though, I’m sure it’s hard for anyone to let you drive for them with the temper and attitude that you have.
Robby u need to join a team and take all the pressure off yourself….after all the greats who failed to establish running and owning a single car team i would figure you would be smarter than that and just join up with someone….maybe this is a step in the right direction to get you another win…i will be at tms hoping to get another autograph…good luck with the help from gem
This will be good for Robby. Takes all the R&D, motor design, etc off Robby’s hands and lets him focus more on racing and less on getting the cars built and whatnot. I don’t see him being a title contender, but it could help him get a W this year.
He lost about $4,000,000 over that Dakar stuff and he needs to do what he has to do to keep the Cup team rolling. Getting engines, tech and marketing from this group is a good thing. I give the boy credit.
I’m a Ford fan and a Robby fan , but if this will help him run better , then its all good. trying to do everything is a big task , so maybe this will take some load off him and he can be a driver first and foremost.
some friends and were standing @ the track and sum lady next to us got a text said that whe was going to get an interview, so we went, robby is an a$$ he talks way too much sh*t. he gives so. cal. people and bad name.
Does anyone understand what Todd just said?
Yes, I understand what he said and he was right on with his analogy of Robby. Grammatical writing aside Robby Gordon is a synopsis of what every one hates about his type of race driver. He is arrogant, self centered, hot tempered in all the wrong ways and has no regard for the equipment he drives or the people that have to clean up after him. Every one is beneath Robby as he see’s it, Just ask him he will tell you in a heart beat. An yes I hate it when people say he is from California.
He needs to go play in the dirt with his trucks and leave racing to real race car drivers as he has failed at every thing he has raced except trucks…
Failed? Oh he must have bought those Indy car victories and Trans Am championships at WalMart.
