Jeff GordonA week after matching Dale Earnhardt’s total of 76 NASCAR Cup Series wins, Jeff Gordon now hopes to tie one of The Intimidator’s records – most restrictor-plate victories – in this Sunday’s Aaron’s 499 at Talladega Superspeedway.

Gordon, who paid tribute to Earnhardt following his victory at Phoenix by carrying a number “3″ flag during his Victory Lap, is looking to capture his 11th career restrictor-plate win.

“Obviously, last Saturday night’s win was special,” said Gordon. “Anytime you accomplish something that ‘Senior’ did, you’ve done something special. “But I also know that, if he were still with us, I’d still be chasing him. “He taught me a lot on and off the track, and some of the things he did on the track – especially restrictor-plate tracks – were simply amazing.”

    IF Jeff wins at Talladega:
He’ll break two of Dale’s records.

Sunday, April 29 is also Dale’s birthday.

If he wins this Sunday..I hope he likes beer because he’s gonna
probably get alot of it from the grandstands.

It is 2 remarkable achievments by Jeff but keep in mind,
Dale is no longer here to defend those records.

“I hope he likes beer”. That is an awesome satement, Kyle. Sure Gordon is a great driver, but he isn’t even a quarter of the man Earnhardt was. I did get a small thrill out of him holding up the 3 flag at Phoenix. I’m over that now. I hope he never holds that flag up again. Not that I don’t think he wont break more of Senior’s records it just that it isn’t his place. If he wins Dega and holds up that flag on Earnhardt’s birthday AT Dega…. I shutter to think.

I don’t know Jr. told his Nation that if they need to become raging idiots and throw something to throw rolls of toilet tissue, I think we may see the track plagued with it because you know they all brought some, just incase and with the way Hendrick has dominated everything this year I wouldn’t be surprised to see one of them win it, and unless it’s Casey Mears the track is gonna get littered
