Jeff GordonJeff Gordon says that Kyle Busch’s comments regarding his status as a Hendrick Motorsports teammate were merely the result of the frustration of a win that slipped away.

After Saturday night’s Pepsi 400 at Daytona International Speedway - a race that Busch lost at the finish line - Busch said that he had no help from his Hendrick Motorsports teammates during the event and that he was now an outsider within the organization. He expounded on those comments at length during his postrace interview, including a comment that he had been snubbed by teammate Gordon on pit road after he offered congratulations to his senior teammate.

“I think he’s a great talent,” the four-time NASCAR Cup champion said. “I think that was a little bit of frustration from [Busch]. I think he had such a great car and a shot at wining that race. I think that if he was driving my car, [he'd] understand that I didn’t really have the opportunity to get down there and help him as easily as it may have looked. My car didn’t work good all night on the bottom groove. I had to stay up top, and there wasn’t much I could do for him, and I’ll admit there were some times throughout the race where I felt like he could have helped me, I could have helped him, that did not work out.”

“After the race, I was doing an interview, he came by and kind of grabbed me on the shoulder and said, ‘Good race’ or something, and I gave him the thumbs up,” Gordon said. “I’m not exactly sure where that came from on the blowing him off. I’m obviously a huge supporter of that 5 team and what they’re doing. We’ve got a lot of things that are going to happen this year and also moving forward, and it’s only in our best interest to work together and to make the best of the situation. I’ve just got to guess that [in] the heat of the moment that maybe Kyle said some things that maybe he wished he hadn’t. I love racing with him, and I look forward to working with him the rest of the year as best I can.”

From the moment he started this “scrub” business… he is a freakin
idiot. I was watching the interview along with millions others!
He walked by Jeff Gordon and kinda slap Jeff on the shoulder and
keeps on walking…. any credibility he had is loooooooooong gone!
Good Riddance for HMS and Good Luck whoever takes him! Don’t
let the door hit where the good Lord split ya!!

This KID makes Tony Stewart Look like a saint. I really don’t know who need’s the (handler) present when a reporter is around the worst. I’m very sure this is not the last of “open mouth insert foot” for Kyle…

  10. 10 okeegirl

Andrew I total agree I hate gordon but Kyle was way out of line. just becuase your team mates doesnt mean gordon should put his car where it doesnt run to help him out. Klye and kurt are a bunch of cry babies!

  11. 11 Erica

Does Kyle realize that Gordon was back in 5th and that Johnson was back in 10th?
I mean really, how were they supposed to help him?

  12. 12 chevy_chica

What a F-ing idiot!!!!!! Nice, real nice. Yeah like it just takes you to win a race
Give credit where credit is due! This really pisses me off. How does he even say that, no help from his team
    Yeah OK

  13. 13 Audrey

Wow, for once, I have to say it, Gordon stepped up and helped Kyle insert that shoe even further in his mouth. I didn’t get to watch the race, but I didn’t believe that they would just leave Kyle high and dry. Gordon has every right to defend himself against unfounded accusations.(Never thought I would say that, but I like Kyle and Kurt even less that I Gordon).

No one likes to take the blame anymore…you dont win….blame someone else.

Kyle is young and stupid like most young drivers. Let’s hope he grows out of it. Like Stewart has.

  16. 16 icalls’emlikeIsees’em

Kyle is young, dumb and full of piss and vinegar. It is common. His talent is overrided by his attitude and pre-existing stooge condition. Maybe he can grow out of it……like Stewart! I am looking forward to him being on the outside of having great equipment, looking in wondering how he could have let someone (E) take his toys out of the sandbox. Welcome little E. It’s nice to have you. As for Kry-le, he will join the ranks of the other stooges at the end of that line led by Tony, Kevin, and big brother Kurt.

  17. 17 KK

Grow out of it like Stewart……are you kidding me??? LOL

  18. 18 craig

I am reading Kyley did not help me so Sorry I just could not seem to get down the track to helphim. I had to stay up top, and there wasn’t much I could do for him, and I’ll admit there were some times throughout the race where I felt like he could have helped me, I could have helped him, that did not work out.”

All I have to say is the kid is just looking to blame everyone because he messed up. He was sitting in a Hendrick vehicle one of if not the best Teams around and the kid blew it. I dont know where he may go but they wont have the equipment or personel thAT Hendrick does. Hes a good driver but he lets his mouth overun his butt. He has alot of growing up to do. And whoever takes him on needs the patience of JOB. because he is going to be another Tony - a little baby when things dont go his way.

  20. 20 KK

I think he should go to Gibbs, what a team, Tony, Kyle and Denny, LOL
that would be a fun place to work

  21. 21 Chris

    Kyle busch just wants attetion.

  22. 22 Rebecca Cary

Sometimes I wonder if people are actually watching the races. Just because someone ends up 5th at the end doesn’t mean that they weren’t right behind or beside him a few laps before that. I agree with Kyle and if I was him I wouldn’t help the other Hendrick cars at all. I would work with my brother and leave it at that.

  23. 23 Michelle

Excuse me Rebecca, but did you see Kurt helping Kyle? He was the one right behind him at the end….

  24. 24 KK

Yes Rebecca I do watch the races, Kyle is way off here, and maybe you should take into consideration the whole race, not just the last few laps, and the end of the race you go with the person that you think you can pass for the win.

But I do agree with you he should work with his brother and NOT wreck him!

I’ve never liked Jeff Gordon but it’s not his fault that the Bush brothers are idiots.Junior will be a much better partner for the team.I never thought i would hear myself say that!!!!!

  26. 26 SHELLY

Kyle is an idiot just like his brother Kurt. The both need to stop bitchin all the time.
