Jeff Gordon, bouncing back from a hard crash in Las Vegas, felt a whole lot better Friday night after winning the pole for the NASCAR Sprint Cup race at Atlanta Motor Speedway.
On Sunday, Gordon walked away without injury after bouncing off the car driven by Matt Kenseth and slamming into the wall in a hit that tore apart the front of his car, leaving his radiator sitting steaming on the track.
“I was sore, but none of the soreness affected me in the race car,” Gordon said after posting a fast lap of 185.251 mph on the 1.5-mile Atlanta oval, easily faster than the 184.852 of Dale Earnhardt Jr.
After what he called “one of the nastiest wrecks I’ve ever had,” Gordon was able to take part in the Cup test Monday and Tuesday in Phoenix, so he knew he’d be OK heading into this weekend.
“My stomach was sore and my elbow was banged up, but I was able to put that aside in the race car,” he said after earning his second Atlanta pole and the 64th of his Cup career. “This makes me feel just fine.

Guys Guys didnt yall forget? yalls two drivers are teamates, running the same engines, and pretty much the same set up with certain changes to the liking of the driver. Jr88fan if gordon is cheating, im sorry to say JR is cheating with the same set up. Gordon wreck last week was caused by JR spinning the tires on the restart. sorry but that is a fact. I hate gordon but 4 cup titles do not lie. He is better then JR and hell my driver as a matter of fact.(well at least for the time being) he’s going to add a cup title to those back to back busch series wins. lol i move on. DEI had a great quilfilying with my boy is starting 3rd, mark martin starting 10th and menard starting 20th. ok and regan smith getting the 01 in the race at the 41st spot is a win lol hey good seat time. So yeah also wanted to add good truck race tonight after quilfilying tonight. It sucks that Ron Hornaday couldnt pull off the win and beat that little creep kyle bucsh.

Gordon didnt cheat to get those 4 championships the only infracton he faced was the cot car and that incisent at dayona back in 07 during the duels

I do not have a problem with Jr not having the pole. Don’t matter.. He’s going to win it, if some moron doesn’t take him out, or just like old at DEI, get the crud equipment that amazingly fails.
As for Jeffy…. I just find it funny that Nascar always makes sure that Gordon qaulify’s at the right time of day when the car sticks to the track better.
When nascar convienetly throws flags that help put him back on the lead lap. Geesh, there was one time he was 3 laps down, and a flag was thrown and voila, he not only just 2 laps down and somehow got the lucky dog before the other car who was only one lap (and didn’t cause the yellow), but he managed to get put back on the LEAD LAP! If he has any issue whatsoever that he needs to get that flag, they will find it for him.
Nascar amazingly also throws flags JUST after he or Johnson gets out of pit road, or if Gordon is vying for the lead and there is deris on that track that can cause problems, nascar waits and waits wand waits until Jeff takes that position so he is leading and THEN throws it immed. Of course this happens when there is a chance of rain, etc and at least half way so they make ure he’s declared the winner. Yet, when you have a good battle between 2-3 guy in the same situation that doesn’t include Jeff of Jimmie in it, that flag is thrown faster then you can sneeze. You can watch the tv announcers show it down on the apron and say “oh good, that shouldn’t affect anything sincce its out of the way”. Yet, there’s the flag. You can have 5 cars crashing and if Jeff is up in front… trying to lead they wait to throw the flag as long as possible. I’ll evengo so far as to say they have done it sometimes for Jimmie now to,
Gordon is the only one that amazingly “never” has cheating issues on his car, though his teamates do. Since they share information, especially with Johnsons team, etc… why are they NEVER caught? We KNOW their doing the same. The VERY FEW selective he was caught they(nascar) were doing so, so that people wouldn’t start questioning why everyone else got nailed but him or Jimmie.
Gordon, is the only one that can get a race stopped because something hit his car. He just HAD to have that line, yet other drivers wanted that line to, but drove over the pothole and didn’t say anything and if they did, nascar said too bad. Only Gordon, got listened to.
Grodon can punt/wreck drivers out of his way and not one word is said to him, besides the drivers he does it to and then they are ready to beat his ash. But they can’t because they might kill him because he is such a weasel and they’d accidently kill him not to mention the golden boy to nascar.
So yeah, those are just a few reasons why I don’t like him and that I feel nascar sucks up to him… not Jr, even though Jr IS a huge moneymaker. Poor Jeff must be feeling like he is being treated badly. boohoo

Look at D Waltrip, he can’t get enough of him. We always joke that maybe if those two got a room and just did it, then maybe we would have unbiased announcing during the races. That we could ACTUALLY watch the drivers running instead of just GORDON or JOHNSON. Maybe I’ll send DW some saltpeter it might calm down his desires hahaha

Back to the REAL WORLD and TOPIC….
Jr.. ONLY hasn’t been a great champion and winner a majority of races, because he belonged to a team that didn’t put the money into it where it needed to go to BE competative. In other words… his greedy ash biotch of a step mommy wanted to be a penny pincher so it could all go in her pocket. If Sr was alive today, HE too would have gotten with the times like other team owners. Its even on film that HIS company was built for that and the KIDs’ futures. but he passed away, unfortunetly, and now hardly any money goes into it like it should.
Thus, the reason Jr moved to Hendrick! At least Hendrick will put out the money in ALL ways to make his team competative and his drivers vie for championships.
Even when they go in the gray area, fine, but not stepping OVER the line of what any other team would and does do. Because that is not working for it the right way. There IS a fine line in that grey area and its sad that some reach beyond that.
But teams that do good because their owners and team puts money and hard work into it are not losers. I guess “some” people think racing is all about 1-2 people being the ultimate and all else are losers? The fact IS.. ANY driver that gets in a car and goes up to 200 mph, a owner going to bat and financing it, a crew that bust their butts week in and out-win or lose…. are not losers by a long shot!
