Gordon says that DEI better keep Dale Earnhardt, Jr

Jeff Gordon is the latest driver to have his say about negotiations for a new contract between Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Dale Earnhardt Inc, the company that Earnhardt Jr.’s stepmother, Teresa Earnhardt runs.
“He’s the driving force and I think that needs to be recognized,” Gordon said of Earnhardt Jr. “He’s the guy the sponsors want and the fans want. …If that thing is not going to blow up in a big way they’d better figure out a way to come to terms.
“Dale Jr. can write his own ticket. He can go anywhere he wants and his sponsors can go with him and the fans will go with him. He could start his own team or he could go to any organization. He’s in the best seat you could possibly be in in this sport and I don’t know if Teresa is really recognizing that.
“I hate it is happening for him. …You want to see that organization stay alive and I think the only way it’s going to be there is for Dale Jr. to still be there.”
- Gordon set to tie another Earnhardt record
- Blown engine damages Earnhardt Jr.’s Chase hopes
- Gordon worried over Dale Jr bidding war
- Senate declares “Race Day In America”
- Dodge will remain committed to its teams and NASCAR

I agree with Jeffie. Dont tell anyone , ok?
damn….jeff praisin jr….pretty cool
jeff is right for once
gordon is definitely right for a change. RECOGNIZE TERESA or DALE JR. is taking off at the end of 2007 season
I agree with Gordon. Jr is the ROCK for DEI!!!!!! Go Jr!!!!!!
Jeff’s right for once? Man, four NASCAR championships by being wrong all the time. That’s impressive.
Ha Ha! You’ve got that right Jeff. I like to see you back to your old self. That new aggresive “I’m gonna beat your a**” attitude just wasn’t you. Now get your butt back out there and win those races!
As for Dale Jr…Jeff is so right and his step mom better check it out quick. He IS the team and without him she is going to fall and fall quick. Dale is a cool character. He may not be 100% behind Teresa…but he still takes up for her in the end. Let’s just hope she does the same for him. Because IF he DOES leave DEI…well in a year or so we will be saying…DEI? What is that? Lord know that would be a pretty bad way to memorize a legend as big as Dale Sr.
Richard Childress or any other team is probably foaming at the mouth to get ahold of Jr. Waiting in the wings to be the first to snatch him up. Open those big eyes teresa and say …”you want to be a star Jr….let me hold your crown!” ROCK ON #8 Dale Earnhardt Jr! This is his year!
I definately think DEI would suffer greatly if Jr. were to leave, but I have a hard time believing they would fold completely. Lots of teams would gladly take Jr, but even more drivers would jump at the chance to race at DEI as well. It sure would interesting to see, but I hope not.
I don’t really understand why Teresa is saying anything about Jr. being in the media. I thought this was what they wanted the drivers to do now. I have watched racing for a long time, and from what I can tell, (only my opinion), the sponsors want the drivers to sell their product, they want the driver to be out doing the media thing. Plus I feel the same way as others have stated if Jr. leaves his sponsors with go with him, they will leave because they know what they have.
Jeff, I love to hate you but right now its love. I think Gordon may have just said there is a seat for Junior at Hendrick… Casey Mears is going to be such a waste of time there.
I agree Axel. About Casey Mears being a waste of time. But Gordon is still just a waste. One intelligent remark
does not a smart person make.
Even a blind squirrel finds an acorn every once in a while.
Ok…I’ve not made it a big secret that I”m NOT
a Gordon fan. Let’s look at it this way!
Jeff and Dale sr WERE good friends, so Jeff knows
a thing or two about what Dale wanted to do
with DEI.
Also…Jeff IS a championship racecar driver, he KNOWS what it
takes to make a team win….the #8 car just isn’t crossing
that finish line first enough times!!
It’s obvious that Jeff sees that JR has what it takes as a driver
to become a championship winner…he may also see (my guess now) that
Theresa’s mismanagement is costing his career that championship.
I hate to dis on a widow, hell; I’m a widow myself. But, Theresa should
be allowing the Earnhardt kids and JR to manage/run this
corp/team and allow her a part of the business elsewhere
— from what she’s been doing.
Maybe put together another concert,or do some charity benefits for
education, children, environment & wild life—the commitments of
the Dale Earnhardt Foundation.
well its not going to happen that way jeff, think he is going to your team mate for the next five years or so.so jeff get out the pull ups and put them on cause he is going to kick ass next year! after next year jeff is going to say why did we get that guy on our team? he wont move over and he keeps beating the rest of the team!!
