Gordon guns for his first ‘Nextel’ Cup

Gordon has won four Cup Series trophies, but those were “Winston” Cups. Gordon does not have a NEXTEL Cup and would like nothing more than to add this to his already impressive trophy collection.
“Being the NEXTEL Cup champion means that you were better than anyone else in the clutch,” Gordon said. “You beat 11 other guys who were about even with you in just 10 races. This year’s Chase will most likely come down to the last race, but it’s about gaining momentum and starting this first race off strong.”
“Don’t expect anything less than a fierce competitor out of me,” Gordon said. “I’m fired up and ready to fight for the championship. Being the leader gives you that little advantage over the other 11 drivers involved and helps build stronger confidence in the minds of your team and yourself.”

Todd that would be awesome if Shrub won the whole thing and told the two pretty boys what they can do! Too bad I think JG, JJ, and Stewart will be too strong and too consistent. I could see Kyle ending up in the top 5, but the cup will have to wait, IMO.

I can’t stand the chase…..Gordon had over a 300 point lead and now he is second, why?

he is in second because his teammate has more wins. he is in second because that is how the rules are structured, the same rules everyone else plays by, not bs, just the way it is. if he doesnt like the rules he should go play a different game.
the team with the best record doesnt always win the title in many sports. its crunch time, if he deserves it, now is his chance to prove it. smoke lost a lead of 209pts in 05 when the chase stared, then he whooped ass and proved he deserved the title.
funny though, jg was all for the chase last year when he was in 9th after richmond.

him, just of him. He is a very nice and respectable person, as well as one of the best
drivers, of all time.
Jeff’s the best because he is from California. Come to think of it, so is JJ.
I’m a Stewart fan.. but I like how Anonymous comes clean and says it how it is.. most people hate him because he is better than their driver.. plain and simple.. not because he’s “gay” or a “prettyboy” .. Gordon will be legend when he is done with this sport.. maybe not as much a legend as Sr. but a legend that’s for sure.

you must not rember that far back! have you for got mike skinner,r wallass. allison, ervin, even DW. come on! gordon is good but will never have 7 champs, or 200 wins or over 1000 starts. like i said gordon is good, he is just not on the same level as the king or big E. Yes people will know of him when he is gone but he will live in the shadow of the other two!
