As if there isn’t already enough pressure in trying to win the Nextel Cup championship, General Motors ramped things up on Thursday.
At the annual Myers Brothers Awards, co-hosted by NASCAR and the National Motorsports Press Association, GM presented Jimmie Johnson’s wife, Chandra, with the keys to a 2007 Chevrolet Corvette convertible.
Should it become tradition, add the chances of winning the wife a shiny new sports car to the present pressures of earning stock-car racing’s top prize and more than $6 million that goes with it.
“I just want to know if I’ll be able to borrow her car,” Johnson said.
“Yes,” Chandra replied. “You can be my chauffeur.”

Whatever happened to just being HAPPY that you’re husband who’d worked his butt off all year came home in ONE piece? Here I go again, I am the voice of “The way things were”. I don’t know wives used to smile and stand by their man, hell even get jewlery at the awards banquet…(rolling eyes)..Too flashy and uptight for my taste…BUT if it works for them..
why should she get anything? she didnt do anything at all except be his wife. the only she should get is the sense of hapiness that her husband is the top driver right now. NASCAR and the stock car racing world is getting greedy and out of hand. moving forward does not involve giving the wife of the champion a new car and a diamond necklace.
