Bill ElliottBill Elliott and Wood Brothers/JTG Racing will be the benefactors of the Dale Earnhardt Inc. merger with Ginn Racing.

When the two teams merged on Wednesday, the organization opted to eliminate the No. 13 entry, which was 34th in the owner standings and, therefore, had a guaranteed starting position in the race.

When that team fails to attempt to qualify this weekend, the No. 21 will make the field for the Allstate 400 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The NASCAR rule is that the top 35 teams that attempt to qualify are locked into the field, meaning that when the No. 13 does not make an attempt, the first car outside the top 35 in owner points will be in the race.

Here’s an idea…intsead of all this nonsense…how about having qualifying?

How about this: The top 35 teams don’t even need to run a qualifying lap! Just show up and race. Lock them in by points and why bother. Save gas… yeah, thats it!

(I hope everyone sees the sarcasm in this….)

LOL…don’t go giving them any ideas!!!

Hell, if NASCAR really wants the top 35 sponsors, er “cars”, in the field safe and sound, they might as well just have them parade around the track… 60 mph should be a good slow speed to see every sponsor clearly, right???

How about we ALL agree on something, like every week is a new race and ALL cars must Qualify. Only the fast 43 run that week, period.
Now I know NASCAR is anal on this point but if we all keep saying it enough maby they will get the idea. Ya think…

Hey they should just race all 50 or however many cars there are like they used to.

Athough I agree that this top 35 deal sucks I think they need to go back to the way it was before, the fastest 36 cars made it in on time and the last 7 were prevesionals based on owners points and each team only got a few pervisionals per year. The pervisionals were there to cover a tire or mechanical problem during qualifying.
