Bobby GinnNew NASCAR owner Bobby Ginn (right) plans to pursue Dale Earnhardt Jr. - with every intent of landing him - as soon as Junior is ready to hear offers. “We would stretch as hard as we could stretch to do it,” Ginn said by telephone Friday night. “You want the best, the absolute best, and I love the idea that Dale wants to win championships. He could accomplish that here with us. We’re in play.”

Earnhardt said Friday that he wants to take a few weeks before opening the negotiating process, and NASCAR’s most popular driver should have his pick of teams. Three owners - Rick Hendrick, Joe Gibbs and Richard Childress - were quickly identified as the front-runners, and Childress indicated Friday he’ll be in the race. Ginn bought a midlevel team [MB2 Motorsports] last July and markedly improved it in just a few short months. Following an aggressive long-range plan, Ginn snagged Mark Martin and expanded the operation to three cars.

“We have a five-year plan in mind and the conclusion is winning a championship,” Ginn said. “We took a risk on Mark Martin, and that’s paid off in spades for us. We aren’t afraid to be aggressive.” The team leases its motors from Hendrick and is perceived to be a satellite of that powerful operation. It’s gotten Ginn mentioned as an outside equation in the Earnhardt race, but the team clearly wants to be a viable option.

Something to ponder on this subject. When Dale Earnhardt signed to drive for RCRacing that was a start up operation….

I was just thinking about that…I’m sure we’ll find out soon

If Jr doesn’t go to Hendrick than Ginn Racing would make as much sense as anything. Over the years Hendrick is the only organization that has remained stable in the win column. Everybody is high on Childress right now, but just 2 years ago that organization was in a lot of trouble. They could easily go back to that. Yates used to be good, now they are struggling to finish in the top 20 or even 25. Gibbs is good, but Labonte won a championship and a couple of years later was basically a back of the pack driver there. Maybe Ginn is set to peak at the right time for Jr and is obviously willing to support him financially and with the best equipment (Hendrick engines). If Ginn is good enough for Mark Martin, it is certainly good enough for Jr.

Im no fan of Hendrick or his teams…. Plus RCR like D W said was
his fathers legacy so Jr should stay away… I honestly would love
LOVE to see JR go to Ginn racing. They drive Chevys so its all gravey!

Ginn and Jr = the best move ever

It would be nice to see Junior become his own man. Ginn could be the place to do that. They have already shown that they are a team to be taken seriously. If Ginn is what it appears to be I think it would be a great choice for Junior.

Ginn said, “We took a risk on Mark Martin…” I think I know what he means by that but it’s funny to hear someone say they “took a risk” on Mark. I don’t even see how that phrase can be in the same sentence as Mark Martin. If you google “no risk” you’ll find Mark’s picture… :)
