Richie Gilmore returned to Dale Earnhardt, Inc. this week after suffering an aneurysm Oct. 5. Gilmore, 43, the chief operating officer of Earnhardt Childress Racing Technology, said it “feels good” to be back at the shop, even if it was part-time.

“I have such a passion for what I do,” Gilmore said. “I was so excited about getting back to work. We had a meeting at DEI on Wednesday with Teresa (Earnhardt), Richard (Childress) and they bussed in the RCR guys so I was able to speak with all the new employees under one roof. “I thought about coming down to Homestead this weekend, but the doctors don’t want me to fly yet. Right now I have a lot of catching up to do.”

With all the engine failures they had this year, you’d of thought he built them while he was sick. At least then they’d have an excuse.

Lol, why do you think that DEI went crawling to RCR to ask for help with their engine program (hey, I said that without taking a jab at Theresa for once, lmao)? It’s starting to help, little by little, but next season will be the first “true” test for this partnership. Judging by how well Truex started doing at season’s end, as well as Martin and Jr., I’d say their on the right track. The only problems that there have been since the partnership have been Jr.’s rotten luck, Menard’s bad driver/crewchief combo, and the fact that Truex gets so doggone close to winning but just runs out of time. Engine-wise they’ve been alot stronger, let’s see how it translates when Daytona testing starts in a few months, it should be very interesting.

I guarrantee that part of them doing that was the fact that they saw what happened to their program after they hired that one employee from Cosworth. Then again, DEI used to use RCR engines anyways so I’m sure that RC had no misgivings towards helping out an old friend (and no I’m not talking about you Theresa since you ruined DEI by focusing on money more than performance, I’m talking about Dale Sr. up in heaven).

Did he get sick from stress (TEI) or some other reason? I feel sorry for this guy. He has nothing to prove. He should take it easy for a while. Then he can go back to work because no one wants his job. Too stressful.
