GibbsJ.D. Gibbs, who runs Gibbs Racing for his owner/father, is denying that his team has provided any engine help to Toyota teams. Michael Waltrip apparently told a TV reporter that his hot run at Talladega was helped in part by some help from the Gibbs team. Gibbs said no way.

The Gibbs teams are moving to Toyota next season when their contract with General Motors runs out at the end of this season. The issue is particularly sensitive since car owner Bill Davis, while still under contract with Dodge a few years ago and awaiting the end of that deal in order to move to Toyota, was taken to court by Dodge over technology issues.

I knew toyota could not come up with all that power in just one race afting failing to get in the races in the begening of the year, and half way throught the year.HAHA the only reason gibs is doing this for waltrip, would be so that gibs does not look bad next year no matter who gibs drivers are so take that toyota fans. you see when american car companys come back in full force. And that is going to be DODGE al the way. haha.

Dodge was a German owned company Daimler-Benz. Some of it was sold or is about to be sold. Foreign ownership. That makes a Dodge a Mercedes.

Gibbs would have the most to lose, so I believe they’re just trying to cover their a**es. Mikey shouldn’t have blurted that info out. If there is any litigation because of this, Mikey and NAPA should pay half of Gibbs’ legal fees. That would stop Mikey from blabbing.

I agree George, Gibbs knows what they have to lose here. they should have known better though, Mikey has a big mouth and they should never have trusted him.

Dodge was an American company that was bought by Daimler-Benz, and then it was sold back to a group of American Investors.

Anyway this isnt that big of a deal, every manufacture has the other manufactures engines sitting in their R&D Center, and Roger Penske since he has been in NASCAR has built cars of the other manufactures so he can test them to “see what they have”.

If its not against the rules, and if you arent stealing any patented/copywritten info then “its all good in the hood”.
