Gibbs didn’t have a sure deal for Almirola

Joe Gibbs Racing wasn’t certain it could find sponsorship to run Aric Almirola full time in the Busch Series next year and didn’t see him as an immediate candidate for a Nextel Cup ride if one of its cars became available.
That’s why the team allowed Almirola to leave for Ginn Racing, JGR president J.D. Gibbs said Wednesday.
“What I didn’t want to do is get three months down the road and have to say, ‘OK, you missed this deal to go to Ginn, and we don’t have a full deal for you,’” Gibbs said.
- Gibbs company ‘Joe Gibbs Driven’, to sponsor Almirola at Las Vegas
- Almirola to run Busch races and possibly some Cup
- Almirola will make Nextel Cup debut in Las Vegas
- Almirola will drive four Cup races in the #01
- Though not happy, Almirola says he’s staying at Gibbs

There was no WINSTON Cup seat available for him? RIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIGHT! What about the #18? J.J. Yeley sucks, and it’s no shocker that he will be fired after the season is over. I guess they believe so highly in Almirola, that they won’t give him a chance to run the #18 Interstate Batteries car, and *GASP* ACTUALLY WIN a race for a change, instead of wrecking out and consistently finishing 30th or worse. But yet, there’s no seat available. Aric, you are better off w/ out these _________. They ______ you over in the Busch race, and iff you had stayed, they’d continue to ____ you over.
Hey Chris, it isnt the Winston Cup series anymore bud, that changed in 2004.
Your comments about Yeley disturb me.
Almirola has attempted Cup races this season and wrecked in PRACTICE before qualifying. This is unacceptable.
Yeley can atleast bring the car home in one piece and with the right setup+crew chief+car combo, he could be a threat.
Look at Truex Jr. Great Busch driver but hasnt really hit his stride until now.
got to agree with u andrew and chris are you kiding me hes like 16th in points theres alot of other guys out there doing worse so i dont no WTF ur problem is but ur wrong
I think with a teacher like Mark Martin he will do fine
Aric Almirola , Ricky Carmichael and Matt Martin….lots of young guns in Ginns future , hope the money holds out. Also theres the lifetime contract that Matt signed at 12. I wonder what will become of that?
contract with Ford I meant to say.^^^^
