Getting into NASCAR racing more costly than ever

This sudden trend of team owners trying to sign up wealthy, nonracing business partners seems to be taking stock-car racing into dangerous waters. It flies in the face of Brian France’s push toward making the sport more accessible to potential new owners. It also holds the potential for upsetting the balance of power on several fronts, possibly even in Daytona.
Teams owners such as Jack Roush, Ray Evernham, Robert Yates and even Richard Petty might find it necessary to sign with rich, outside-the-racetrack business partners, to keep making a go of it in an increasingly expensive sport. But the France family has always preferred dealing with owners who are racers - such as Junior Johnson, Chip Ganassi, Roger Penske, Richard Childress - and who understand how the family likes the game played, how to go along to get along.
Outsiders? Well, think George Steinbrenner. And sweat.
The Frances should be worried about wealthy, business-savvy outsiders jumping in, because it appears to show that NASCAR’s current run of cost-cutting rules might not be working, at least not in the way intended.

Brian France has seriously F*cked up Nascar. Too much advertising, not enough roots racing. Soon it will be a race every weekend at California. If Darlington looses its last Date I mwashing my hands with Nascar. Heres what needs to happen. The races need to be cut in half. The biggest races need to be at restrictor plate tracks point blank because they draw the biggest crowds. Leave the road coarses and short tracks alone, and bring in some more, different tracks. Bring back Wilkesboro, Rockingham, add some new ones, Kentucky and etc. The only way we will get good racing, true hard grit racing is to do it liek the iroc series. Series provides everything, all the ydo is get in the car and drive. Have a fixed setup and have the cars only allowed to be touched at the line. Thus no huge teams, just a fee for the car and a charge if you wreck it. Then you will have great racing. but you could allow the teams to provide a wrap for their logos and decals.
Nice thought keep dreaming……
This might happen too.
Football players will wear leather helmets this year and it will be broadcast in black and white. 07
If NASCAR is facing an uncertain future and running out of money, it’s because they keep stepping on the sponsers toes. If they would stop pissin’ off the sponsers, then they wouldn’t be going to court all the time.
NASCAR has become too commercialized, heck, sometimes I don’t know if I’m watching the race or a commercial. Seems people are talking more about commercials these days than the racing going on. It wouldn’t surprise me if France tries to apply a salary cap just so he can keep more money.
I loved that one Serg! I could see something like that happening!
The cash cow is runnig. Pro sports just keep getting bigger and bigger . I imagine nascar will follow. Especially with Montoya bringing in a whole new audience.
