‘Front Row Joe’ jumps up to win pole at Talladega

Joe Nemechek drove his Chevrolet to the No. 1 starting spot for today’s Aaron 499 in Saturday’s qualifying at Talladega Superspeedway.
Going out next to last among 46 cars entered, Nemechek ran 187.386 mph in the No. 78 Chevrolet to earn his fourth career pole at this 2.66-mile track and his 10th pole overall. He last started first in a Sprint Cup race at Michigan in August 2005.
Tony Stewart, who has six career runner-up finishes without a win at Talladega, got bumped to the No. 2 spot by Nemechek’s lap. Stewart ran 186.896 mph on his lap.

Shave that facial hair Joe. It don’t look good on you. Congratulations on not only into the show, but knocking Tony off the pole. That’s about as good as it gets.

Joe doesn’t look good at all. He does look thin. He looks kind of sickly to me. I just hope it’s nothing long term if he is sick. He just wasn’t himself during the interviews either.
