Sorry I hit the wrong key

if anyone is interested in reading about ethanol, check out my blog on the subject - it might be a real eye opener.
Or you can go to http://www.illinoisgasprices.com/Forum_Topics.aspx?category=1356 and see boyh sides of that topic and decide for your self

AS for using it in the cup series I don't see anything wrong with testing the waters and seeing if it is feesable to use it if it would be better or if they are forced to be a fuel shortage in the future, lets face it if it comes down to using E-85 or canceling races than please use it, besides the test results may suprise everyone. I converted a 1979 GMC 4x4 with a 350 automatic transmission that I tow and plow snow with over to run E-85 only ( no reg gas or E-10) in now has tons of tourque, more horse power and gets as good if not better milage for at todays prices $.85 a gallon less and it runs cooler and cleaner, So I think the Nascar motor builders can do even better with there motors.
ethanol is one of the biggest political scams ever. and the powers that be cram this garbage down our throat and capitalize on peoples concern for the environment by manipulating people to think ethanol is "green."

basically instead of making real change and using solar power which could've been done as cheaply or more YEARS ago we use corn to power cars instead of ummm, i don't know - FEEDING PEOPLE!! what the hell is this world coming to? oh yeah - the same thing it's always come to - those with power can use their power to get more of it and more money, etc. i guess one thing's obvious - there's more capability for scoundrels to make millions off ethanol than solar power which obviously is more important than simple basic logic.

Why would they think about this now? They just went to unleaded this year and now as soon as the teams get that done they will have to do E85. If they wanted E85 they should have just switched straight to that instead.

E85 makes less power and gets lower mileage too.
I think when the reports come in on Ethanol the numbers will not be good. I am talking about the cost along with the benifit. How many gallons of gas does it take to plant the corn? Harvest the corn? Produce ethonal? I do not think farmers are usning Ethanol in their tractors. What about the price of corn? It has already gone up and the prediction is that it will go higher. Nascar does not need to jump on this bandwagon. Just my two cents!
I kinda agree with you hear. I mean what if there is a major drought and corn production goes down?

The IRL uses 100% ethanol, and I would think NASCAR would too. The cars have more power than with methanol, they would NON go slower.. This may not be the best option right now, but they do need to research it in case this becomes the norm.

Also, NASCAR engines are not a lot more "Sophisticated" than Indy Car or even Late Model engines. They all work on the same concepts. The fuel is burned.

Tractors run diesel. And a lot of farmers have switched to Soy Bio-diesel. It would be good to support local growers.

I don't know about you fisha695, but going to E-85 is a wrong move, we are not talking Indy cars, we are talking normal Nascar racing engines alot more sophisticated also more than a late model engine, hell they were talking troubles going to unleaded fuel, I believe E-85 is alot less octane than normal unleaded fuel.
If they do go to E-85, look for more pitstops, cause alot less mileage on it.

Oh and one more thing, they are saying E-85, but that doesnt mean it'll actually be E-85. IRL uses "E-85" but it actually has an octane of 105, they just call it E-85 so the fuel/automanufactures can say "You can use the same stuff the Pro's do."
