Four drivers tire testing at Lowe’s Motor Speedway

With late-afternoon temperatures approaching 100° and track temperatures exceeding 140°, Nextel Cup Series drivers #12-Ryan Newman, #1-Martin Truex Jr., #83-Brian Vickers and #6-David Ragan tested Goodyear tires Monday at Lowe’s Motor Speedway in preparation for the Bank of America 500 on Saturday night, Oct. 13.
Even though the four teams had an eye on 2008 as they tested NASCAR’s Car of Tomorrow, a portion of what they learn during the two-day session will apply to the current cars that will be used here this fall. The tire test is scheduled to continue through Tuesday afternoon with the same four drivers expected to once again battle the elements.(LMS PR), no speeds were released.

if i were lines up to test in that circumstance, i wouldn’t. I dont care how much you want to pay me, i’m not going todrive a race car with questionable at best tires on a hot greasy track with no grip to speak of inside a 3 layer fire suit in a self heating sauna in 100 degree weather. I can hardly make the 15 minute trip home in my truck with no headliner and no A/C.
