Statement from Doug Hervey, North American Operations Manager, Ford Racing Technology, on the departure of Robby Gordon:
“Robby made a difficult decision to do what he thought was necessary to financially support and stabilize his race team. We were fully prepared to continue our commitment with him this year, and had plans to increase our level of engineering support, before he told us of this decision to partner up with Gillett Evernham Motorsports. As a manufacturer, we’re disappointed to be losing him and his team, but understand the difficulties of running a one-car team in the sport today.”

Well call me crazy here, but maybe…. just maybe if Ford would’ve given Robby the amount of support that he needed from the get-go, then maybe…. just maybe RGM would still be under the Ford banner.
But then again it appears that Ford is becoming more and more like Toyota in forms of what they have been known to do to race teams, but at least Toyota only does that to its teams over in Europe.
Now I know somebody is going to say something along the lines of “Well Ford isn’t making enough money to support that many teams fully”
Well if they’d stop making those stupid SUV crossover things that nobody buys, and they’d take that stupid looking grill off of their other cars, maybe more people would buy them.

I was hoping to see Robby’s relationship with Ford grow to the point of possibly absorbing the fifth Roush team going into 2009, oh well its Ford’s loss. I think Robby has done well so far, considering what he is up against. I hope he does well with the new relationship with GEM. The Dodge Ram will make a cool looking rally truck next year as well..
another thing was that the motors robby was gettin from roush yates were nothin like they were said to be. i do remember robby complaining about that he was out horsepowered by a ton. i can understand a little bit because roush an yates cars are gonna get the best of the best butif you want to keep your customers then you need to build a good competitive piece. despite what everybody says, robby does have a good head on his shoulders because for a while he was the only owner driver team on the cup circuit an made the best of it. he still is the only single car team owner driver out there and he has done a great job in keepin sponsors and being pretty competitive.

I’m pretty sure Robby Gordon Off-Road is going to stick with GM.
Robby should give it up in NASCAR like every other sport he has tried.
Jumping piles of dirt seems to be the only thing he is reasonably good at. It would
suit his driving style a lot better and give the other drivers a lot more room to
stay away from his wild smash and bash driving style.
Back to the dirt pile for this little kid.
i’m a huge RGM fan and i agree that robby wasn’t get them motor quailities that roush said to be giving him. Robby is a good racer in the nascar series, but he’s one heck of a off-road truck driver. robby was driving ford last year in nascar and then chevy truck ing score off road racing. so he will most likly stick with chevy.
Don’t get me Wrong if robby did switch to a dodge pick up for off his trick truck instead of the chevy it would be a great loooking truck of his.
Doesn’t Toyota have more teams than Ford now? A few years ago, it was Chevy, Ford, Dodge coming back in and Pontiac leaving. It almost appears like Ford is leaving now.
Losing Robby wasn’t much of a lost. He was a legend in his own mind. This won’t help or hurt Ford’s effort.
