First Nextel Cup practice rained out

Brickyard 400Rain cancelled the opening practice session for the NASCAR Nextel Cup teams at Indianapolis Motor Speedway today.

The rain, which is predicted to continue intermittently through the weekend, started shortly before the 1:30 p.m. EDT session was scheduled to begin.

The forecast is for the possibility of rain in the afternoon so it is not known yet if practice will be held today or not.
