Hendrick Motorsports officials announced Tuesday that Adrian Fernandez will drive JR Motorsports’ No. 5 Chevrolet in the Nationwide Series race at Mexico City on April 20.
Fernandez, a Mexico City native, has driven for Hendrick in all three races in Mexico City, posting two top-10s. Hendrick entered into a partnership with JR Motorsports this season.
Sponsorship for Fernandez comes from Lowe’s.
“I am honored by this opportunity to represent Lowe’s, Hendrick Motorsports and NASCAR,” said Fernandez, who tested the Nationwide car on Nov. 20 at Sebring International Raceway. “I know race fans in Mexico grow more excited about this race each year. I think this race will continue to grow and prove how popular NASCAR is becoming outside of America.”
