Hall of Fame Racing has decided to use road-racing ace Ron Fellows in its No. 96 Chevrolet this weekend in the Nextel Cup Series race at Sonoma, Calif.
Fellows will replace the team’s regular driver, Tony Raines, in Sunday’s Toyota/Save Mart 350 at Infineon Raceway. The team made the change this week and it was noted on Monday’s most recent updated NASCAR entry list for the race.
So far this season, Raines is 27th in driver points with no top-10 finishes and has led just one lap. His best finish is 13th at Texas. He has finished 36th or worse in the past two races.

- Karting - Sunoco Ron Fellows Karting Championship alumni to hit Mosport this weekend
- P.J. Jones in for Reutimann at Sonoma
- Raines fined, loses points for throwing helmet

Tony has been a contender several times…even when he was in the 74, he had some great races. They’re a new team, you couldn’t even stick a guy like Tony Stewart in there and expect them to run great at first. Give them time, they’ll get it together.
This move hurts a driver’s confidence. None of these so called superstar, overrated, specialists have ever won a freaking Cup race. Not Fellows, Pruett, Leitzinger or Said. Yet some poor guy trying to build a career gets kicked to the curb because some owner fantasizes this will be the fairy tale they’ve all been looking for. Said is supposed to be a stud. He’s a dud. He’s had his own team for quite a while and can’t get any major sponsorships. If he was black like Willy Ribbs, he could cry racism. That’s what weak minded individuals do when they can’t think of anything else. But he’s not. Even guys like Skinner, Mayfield and any one of the Bodines attracted sponsors. Specialists? STOP!!!!!!

that says it all. if you don’t perform, you should get cut. this is the top level of stock car racing, and if the team thinks you aren’t good enough, then they have every right to get rid of you.
More like Hall of Shame racing…
