Evernham said Sunday he has a contract with Dodge through 2010 and confirmed he is one of a half-dozen teams who have talked with Budweiser about taking over the brewing company’s sponsorship deal in 2008, now that Hendrick Motorsports and Dale Earnhardt, Jr. are out of the running. There are other options for Kahne beyond Budweiser.
Fast-food giant McDonald’s, who already has a minor associate position on the #9 of Kahne, could step up to become primary of Kahne’s car, as the company is looking towards re-establishing its presence in NASCAR, sources said Sunday. Another sponsor said to be looking closely at Kahne’s car is Coca-Cola, which in May agreed to buy Vitamin Water maker Glaceau for $4.1 billion in cash.
Kahne is a national pitchman for Vitamin Water and an integral part of its marketing campaign. Kahne said he’s OK with however the sponsorship situation shakes out. “Myself, I’m with Ray Evernham for 2008 and whatever he decides to do that’s a good deal. I’m behind him,” Kahne said Friday.

It looks like his problems are over. He’s got big dollar sponsors tripping over themselves to give him money. That’s the way Yates was until a couple of years ago. Evidently these sponsors know a deal when they see one. Good luck Ray!
Something needs to be done to help this team. I don’t know if sponsorship money can help at this point or not. It is a shame that Kasey Kahne and Elliott Sadler have had to put up with junk for cars all season. These drivers deserve better than this, their team directors and pit crews deserve better than this, Ray should be ashamed of the way he has let his cup teams performance level drop. If money has been the issue then he needs to cut some of the others loose, ARCA ect. or let these drivers out of their contracts to seek better teams. Kasey Kahne and Elliott Sadler should not have to endure this poor example of a cup car any longer. Some of us no longer watch after they start fading to the back, which is usually around the first 20 laps or so, so pitiful.
