Eury, Jr and Earnhardt, JrTony Eury, Jr has stepped down as Dale Earnhardt, Jr’s crew chief at DEI as planned earlier this year and Tony Gibson will take over for the remaining races in 2007. Eury, Jr leaves to start working with Hendrick Motorsports where he will again be Earnhardt, Jr’s crew chief in 2008.

Tony Gibson, who has been the team’s car chief, was Dale Jr’s crew chief for six races when Tony Eury Jr. was suspended earlier this year.

Although Earnhardt Jr. will be reunited with Eury Jr. next season at Hendrick, he’s excited about working with Gibson.

“He and I talked a little bit after we dropped out of the Talladega race,” Earnhardt Jr. said. “It meant a lot to me. He’s a great guy, and we’re going to be all right in these last six races. He’s a lot of fun to be around and one of those guys that you just want to win with. If you’re going into battle, he’s one of the guys you want right next to you.”

Gibson did pretty well with Junior.
Hopefully they can get a win before years out.

Tony might be familiar with and know Junior but he should’ve made a clean break. A Darian Grubb or a Gustafson would’ve been a better combination for success at HMS.

The Best to Eury Jr at Henrick, I pray I am wrong when I say, I think Dale Jr is making a mistake by taking Eury Jr with him to Hendrick. I just dont think Eury Jr has the know how to set up a car, but maybe with Hendrick backing he will learn what he needs to set up a car during a race to put a car on the track that can continue to improve during a race and be an up front runner as a race closes.

We shall see if the car gets better or worse next year during a run.

Best to Eury Jr at Hendrick. I will be pulling for him and Dale Jr.

I think it’s good for Tony to go ahead and move on. If they are going to Hendrick, then why not go ahead and move over. I mean, there’s not much either one of them can really do over there anymore anyway, not with an engine deparment that keeps providing crap engines. I was so dissappointed to see Jr. blow another engine at Talladega, but I have to say, I wasn’t surprised. Especially after Truex blew his. I just don’t know what is going on with DEI, but I think it’s time for them to step up to the plate and make some changes for the better, especially now that Jr. is leaving. They really need to work on their engines and drivers so they can still be competetive next year and years to come. Any, back to the point of the article, yes, it’s cool the Tony Eury Jr. is going to Hendrick now, without Jr. He needs to get over there and get things ready for next year when Jr. gets there, so they are ready for competetion from day 1.
