Eury Jr says Dale Earnhardt, Jr should get at least 4 wins

Tony Eury Jr. says he’d be disappointed if the new Hendrick Motorsports driver, Dale Earnhardt Jr., doesn’t win at least four NASCAR Sprint Cup races. The crew chief and his driver began testing at Daytona International Speedway today in preparation for the season. Eury seems pleased with the team’s progress and says that his move to join Hendrick late last season, instead of waiting for the offseason to make the move from Dale Earnhardt Inc., should pay off for the group.
His confidence is high as the team prepares for 2008.
“We can get the job done,” he said. “It’s just a matter of the people to surround me and we get the right breaks and making the right calls during the year. I think we’ve got a shot at being in the Chase [For The Sprint Cup], winning the title.”
“I’d be very disappointed if we don’t win at least four, to be honest,” he said. “I mean, I just look at the races that we had problems with last year, and we were running in the top three and in contention. That’s the biggest thing in this sport, is you’ve got to put yourself in contention and anything can happen in any of these races. That’s all we’ve got to do. We’ve got to make the right calls and be in the right position at the end of races and we can win those races.
“We didn’t win any last year, but it wasn’t for lack of effort. I mean there were several races where we were running in the top three, top four at the end of the race and something happen, motor blow up, we get in a accident, something. I don’t think it’s totally out of line. I think it’s up to us what we do.”

Honestly I think Tony is the problem with Jr. And in a way now I am rooting against him hoping he doesn’t get 4 wins just because I hate people who act all cocky like that.
Fisha695,
they arent acting cocky…they should have won 6 races last year minus all the engine failures…if you forget he was leading at the brickyard and boom…root against him all you want..4 races is LOW…..i bet you he has a career year and bests his 6 wins in 2004…ill garuntee you that..barring he has no trouble…that team was championship caliber before he went over there..and adding a better driver, they are even stronger…kyle busch is a good driver, no doubt…but he does alot of stupid stuff with his cars that JR never would do…
every driver out there has a goal before the season..4 wins is that for them..how is that cocky? i hope you eat your words…im getting my AMP ready for the Daytona 500 cause its gonna be a good one espec with that 88 car out front!!!!
Silly to say things like that. Just say “we are focused on winning again”. Pressure is on him, and Eury is adding to it unnecessarily. How about focusing on getting the FIRST win in sixty-some races and moving on from there. Cart is again before the horse.
I have a bet with a friend that Kyle Busch wins in a Toyota before Jr wins in a Hendrick car. Even if I lose it’s worth it to me just to hear all the groupies moan about it! I like Jr., despise his fans. This year will prove whether he is a racecar driver or merely the famous son of one.
Moan away, people!
Ha, that is pretty cocky. You don’t see Chad Knaus or Greg Zipadelli going around saying that his team is gonna get “so-and-so” wins this year. They prove it on the track. I love Hendrick motorsports, but I will laugh my but off if the 88 car doesn’t get a victory this season. Go 48.
Kyle Busch will win before Jr and Jr may never win a championship, there
is too much talent in the series.
He may be the most overrated driver ever, used to like him till he went
to Hendrick…..
This makes me hate Junior now more than ever!!!!! Im accually pulling for Gordon, Johnson (and I hate both of them too), and MEARS (He’s not just for research and development!!) to pummell him!!I will have to totally agree with the last post and say he IS the most overrated driver in Cup!!! Eury better be able to back up those words!!! How many more days until Daytona!!??
piss on jr.
It takes a 48 & a 24 and a 16 to make a 88
Junior has no excuses this year. He’s in great equipment with a great organization. He better win. His only weak link is cuzzin Tony. And that wuz by choice. Now if Junior doesn’t win at least 4 points races, he’ll be the 4th best driver in the organization, down a spot from third. He was third before the season started.

How many great drivers or crew chiefs do you know who are not cocky?
Thats retarded its not being cocky I mean hell he shouldve won at least 3 or 4 races last year in that junk he had to drive at dei,all eury jr is saying is going on past years with good cars jr was winning 3 4 5 6 races a year so they should expect the same results!
He is being cocky. The racing season hasn’t even started yet and he’s already predicting what’s going to happen. The testing times at Daytona don’t mean %#$@.
All crew chiefs do that big deal,I mean if people dont like dale jr you dont have to read the stories nobody is holding a gun to your head saying read.
i hope jr wins the 500 so all you korn holes that say that bush will win befor him can eat your words! btw jr has the best time out of both weeks. so iam not worried.
Kinda hard to ignore the stories if topics about Jr. keep coming up.
nick….. seriously dont you got anything better to write than spam the same BS in every JR. Post. The moderators should really do something about that spam.
On topic, Jr should win way more than 4. He should have had at least 5 by my count last year if he had an engine that would last 500 miles.
