ESPN NASCARThe NASCAR NEXTEL Cup and NASCAR Busch Series will be racing at Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn, Mich., this weekend, a race that often features three and sometimes four-wide racing on the two-mile oval.

ESPN’s NASCAR Countdown will have a live preview of the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series at MIS at 1 p.m. ET Sunday, Aug. 19. ESPN’s Suzy Kolber will host NASCAR Countdown, while two-time NASCAR champion crew chief Tim Brewer will report from the ESPN DISH Tech Center. Some highlights:

Back in the Saddle

Hendrick Motorsports crew chiefs Steve Letarte (No. 24, Jeff Gordon) and Chad Knaus (No. 48, Jimmie Johnson) will be back in the pit box for their respective drivers this weekend after serving a six-week suspension. The two crew chiefs will talk to NASCAR Countdown for the first time since they were banished from the track, and Gordon and Johnson will talk about their teams being back at full strength with the Chase for the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup looming.

When Push Comes to Shove

One week after their shoving match in the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup race at Watkins Glen International, NASCAR Countdown will find out what is on the minds of drivers Kevin Harvick and Juan Pablo Montoya.

Racing Round Up

NASCAR Countdown will report on the latest news from around the garage including: Dale Earnhardt Jr. not driving the No. 8 car for Hendrick Motorsports in 2008, why Kenny Wallace is looking for another ride and why Kyle Petty will not be driving his familiar No. 45 this weekend in Michigan.

NASCAR Busch Series: Live at Michigan International Speedway on ESPN2

On Saturday, ESPN2 continues its season-long coverage of the NASCAR Busch Series with live coverage of the Carfax 250 at Michigan International Speedway. The telecast begins at 3 p.m. ET with NASCAR Countdown. ESPN’s Allen Bestwick will host NASCAR Countdown at MIS. Highlights include:

Harvick Moving in on NASCAR Busch Series Record

2006 NASCAR Busch Series Champion Kevin Harvick has 31 career wins in the NASCAR Busch Series, having won four out of the last five NASCAR Busch Series races he has entered. ESPN pit reporter Dave Burns will report on Harvick’s winning streak and moving in on the current NASCAR Busch Series wins record of 47, held by Mark Martin.

MIS – The biggest Race of the Year for Auto Makers

The NASCAR Countdown pit studio will discuss the importance of racing at Michigan International Speedway, the home of the big three auto makers – General Motors, Ford and Dodge – and what makes this race so special to them. The studio will also discuss Toyota and their performance in the NASCAR Busch Series.
