Edwards wins at Dover

Carl EdwardsHard hats would have been an appropriate fan giveaway Sunday at Dover International Speedway. Why? The Dodge Dealers 400 was a disaster area for drivers in the Chase for the Nextel Cup.

Even race-winner Carl Edwards had to overcome early race engine problems and avoid trouble from a record-setting 13 cautions before he could claim his third win of the season, which catapulted him into second place in the standings with eight of 10 races remaining to decide the season champion.

Nearly everyone else in the Chase had serious problems, including a late-race 10-car wreck that collected Chase participants Kurt Busch, Jimmie Johnson, Kyle Busch and Martin Truex Jr.

Kevin Harvick had a loose wheel and flat tire. Matt Kenseth, who led the most laps, blew his engine late in the race. Clint Bowyer and Denny Hamlin were involved in wrecks. Jeff Gordon, Tony Stewart and Jeff Burton avoided on-track incidents but didn’t run particularly well.

Without all those cautions that would of been a boring race.. Only 6 lead lap cars.. Guess the practice times don’t meen much

That was an insane race! With the scuffle between Kyle Petty and Denny Hamlin, then with all the wrecks, and only having 6 cars on the lead lap??? I was listening to KK’s scanner, I believe he was refering to this race as looking like an IRL race….couldn’t help but snicker when he said that, with debri cautions seemed like he thought they were trying to get more cars on the lead lap. All in all, a good race.

Yes it was an insane race. Some interesting and good wrecks, Kyle
and Denny got me interested :]

But the battles for first SUCKED. Oh well, all around, not a bad race.

I’m really getting tired of having to work these Sundays!!!! I am missing all of the good races! Can’t wait till Charlotte…that’s when my Sundays are over…but the chase is almost over. Sweet and sour all in the same bunch!!!
