Dale Earnhardt, JrAlthough Earnhardt was still the leader when the caution flew, NASCAR made the right call and the finishing order stands, Kerry Tharpe, NASCAR’s director of communications for competition, said Monday after conferring with NASCAR officials in Daytona.

Tharp was at Talladega Monday for a testing session for NASCAR’s Car of Tomorrow. Tharp said the caution flag flew “instantaneously” when the wreck began and the field was frozen at that point, but NASCAR rules require drivers to complete the lap to be credited with the lap.

Earnhardt did that, he explained, but NASCAR rules also say that the driver must complete the lap “at a reasonable speed” and NASCAR officials had made a judgment call that Earnhardt had not done that.

oh what the crap that is so freakin’ wrong. Dale Junior finished and was the leader when the caution flag flew…. so that is a bunch of bull if it had of been jeff gordon they would have allowed him to have the win but since it’s Earnhardt he gets the win taken away… I so disagree…

Bull****…Vickers got away with it because he’s associated with the “Ambiguously *** Duo” !!! They all wear panties if ya ask me. Dale Jr shoulda got the points for winning…

I think NASCAR made the right decision; and this is coming from a Jimmie Johnson fan. I believe, if you are a part of the wreck, no matter why it happened, you should finish where you went back to the line. The point is, Junior didn’t win the race! Accident or not, he got it started, but didn’t even cross the line first.

JR. had that race!! He should have WON!!!! and something needs to be done to Vickers–he did it on purpose!! He’s such a dumb@**!!

Oh my God, get over it. So Dale Jr. didn’t win, get the hell over it. And everyone seems to be missing the fact that he lost this race the way him and his father won many races.

how the #$@% is anyone supposed to finish in a “reasonable” speed under a damn caution. Hello! A caution usually means someone just wrecked so obviously not everyone is going to be going 190+ mph.

bull****…junior deserves that win and NASCAR needs to look at that damn tape again.

haha. Junior fans are so immature. what’s done is done. Junior wasn’t too upset about it so you should just get over it. It didn’t happen to you.

I thought Jr should have been credited somewhere in the top 10. Definitely not the winner of the race, but the caution came out “instantaneously” as Nascar said but at that time Jr was sliding through the grass. Not to mention sliding through the grass pretty fast, probably faster than caution lap speed. It’s hard to get going much faster than he did while you’re sliding through the grass. As soon as his car stopped he got it going pretty quickly and completed the lap. Even one of the announcers during the race sort of shrugged it off and said Jr and Jimmie would be credited in the top 10 so they wouldn’t take that big a hit in the points.

BUD WHINE RS, Hey I’m a Johnson fan and I’m not complaining about the position that they gave him. They got wrecked and you don’t win if you’re spinning in the grass, I just hope that Vickers is not in the 25 car at Lowes this weekend.
