Dale Earnhardt Jr. nearly started laughing Friday and said, ‘Nah,’ when asked if it was really possible he could drive a Ford next season.
Dale Earnarhdt Inc., which is in negotiations with Earnhardt Jr. for a contract extension and also must sign a new dale with Chevrolet, has had preliminary talks with other manufacturers and also has talked about a possible merger with Robert Yates Racing.
But Earnhardt Jr. couldn’t see himself driving anything but a Chevy. As part of his negotiations with DEI, he wants majority ownership of the team.
“We’ll be driving Chevrolets, I’ll promise you that,” Earnhardt Jr. said following qualifying Friday for the Crown Royal/Jim Stewart 400.
- Earnhardt, Jr, Busch to test with new teams
- DEI officially signs Jeffrey Earnhardt
- Dale Jr to stay with Chevy, comments on plans
- Earnhardt, Jr RCR or Hendrick Racing bound?
- Hendrick re-ups with Chevy

I wonder if Junior can promise us he will get 51 percent ownsership now…
If we’re lucky, the Earnhardt children will get all of DEI (with Jr as the major stockholder) and Teresa can then own RYR. It won’t matter which manufacturer she prefers (Chevys or Fords) and RYR can’t get worse under her management only if she keeps Doug Yates.
i know teresa is earnhardts wife but i bet jr would be alot more ambitious with the company and would be a better boss bein that he’s always there at the race regardless
i can’t invision an Earnhardt
NOT behind the wheel of a Chevy!
I could never imagine him in anything but a Chevy
maybe he should just make Junior motorsports a nextel series team…bring smoke over from Gibbs, those 2 would be unstopable as team mates…
Chevy and Earnhardt NOT together? Never gonna happen. Forget it Ford…JR. is a diehard Chevy man!
