Earnhardt, Jr to drive the No 88 in 2008

Fans who liked watching Dale Earnhardt Jr. in the #8 since he moved to the Nextel Cup series eight years ago will double their pleasure in 2008.
Earnhardt will drive two stylized 8s next season for Hendrick Motorsports, sources told ESPN.com on Friday. Robert Yates Racing, sources said, has agreed to sell the #88 that Dale Jarrett drove to the 1999 championship.

Well if you think about it. He has a #88 Busch car out on the track right now, so it wouldn’t surprise me.
Hopefully this will pave the way for the return of the #28

Personally I am glad that Jr. is going to be running the #88. And maybe Hendrick will let him run more Bush races then DEI did. I dont know about you guys but next season is going to be one BAT, Bad Ass Time.
Why not # 83
because chip, brian vickers and red bull have the 83, and maybe dale jr nor hendrick were interested in that number
83 is taken.
I just read on Nascar.com it was the #81 and it will be a soft drink associated with Pepsi HUMMM?
i think the only fact is that nobody knows except dale jr/rick hendrick/ and all associated with them, maybe everyone just needs to stop speculating and wait until wed…..

well loser88 what exactly do U call a racing story? last time i checked this has to do with a new team/new sponsor/new number/new driver so whats not to talk about? oh and to ur 8 years and 0 championships, if internet was this popular, would we have said this about dale jarrett whom took longer to win his first cup title…oh and by the way it took jarrett 14 years to get 1, if i have to wait that long for jr to get one, i am young and i can do it, oh and if u and all the other jr haters are going to keep coming up with the 0 championship thing, add mark martin and ricky rudd to that list

Hmmmm….Although I am not a Dale Jr. fan, I have a tough time believing he is a bad driver just because he doesn’t have a cup. But it is also my opinion that if you don’t want to know about Dale Jr., quit reading articles regarding them…(oh and replying to the comments as well). I see Jr. going far with HMS and I wish him the best of luck regardless of the car number or sponsor…as long as it says Hendrick on the side and Chevy on the front, I’m okay with him racing in it!

first of all i think everybody needs to quit buggin the hell out of jr. he a driver like everybody else on theose 50 other teams. he aint the best there is but he aint horrible either. he a decent driver. u gotta be good to get to the cup level to begin with so we all kno he got talent. but these stories sayin jr this an that is gettin old. when somthin actuially happens then itl be a good story to read. wen i come up here i dont want to be seein the same story everyday wit a couple words changed around everytime. it stupid. report somthin wen somthin happens.

The car # dont matter
Whatever number JR gets the number #8 will alway’s be remembered as Jr’s #8 car. Who ever drives the #8 car I wouldn’t want to look in the rear view mirror and see jr. behind you.
it does not matter what number jr will be in next year—important thing is that he wont be driving for evil step mama who possibly sees to it his engines blow & his quest for a champoinship gets farther & farther away (the biotch)
