Dale Earnhardt, JrDale Earnhardt Jr. will drive his own race car Friday night when he replaces Shane Huffman in the Busch Series race at Daytona International Speedway.

Earnhardt, a two-time Busch champion, will drive the No. 88 Chevrolet he fields for JR Motorsports. He said Tuesday he is searching for a permanent replacement for Huffman.

“Upon a midseason evaluation of the performance of this race team, we decided we needed to make a change, and right now we have a window to do that,” Earnhardt said Tuesday. “Because of the short notice, I am going to drive the Navy car Friday night at Daytona.”

The race is a big event for the Navy, which sponsors the No. 88 and will use a special Navy SEALs paint scheme this weekend in honor of the Fourth of July. Because of the added importance, Earnhardt wanted to pilot the car himself.

This is great news for BUSH RACING as it will help bring in more people to the race track. Wait a minuet I’m gong to those races. That might not be a good thing as traffic is unbearable already.
I wonder if this is the hand of Tony Sr. already. As a fan it’s always a good thing when you get to see great drivers in any race but come on Jr. at Daytona racing 2 times means a great time for all accept the other drivers.. I’m sorry for Shane Huffman but he has had the time to preform and it’s just not happening. This decission by Jr. or Tony or both is a good one and believe me the car will look wild at night. Now if it just doesn’t rain to late in the day and the beer stays cold and I can find a parking place ect.ect…..

    Woo hoo Junior! :]

I’m flying out this week for the Pepsi 400 and I am begging for my life that it doesn not rain!!

Looking forward to watching him in the Busch race though.

    Good luck June!

I personally don’t like this move. I liked the time when the Busch series was for up and coming drivers, not just a smaller, shorter Nextel Cup race. I thought Huffman was doing a good job, he was just going through rookie driver troubles. Its hard to get the hang of driving a faster car if you get canned just halfway through the season. I think Nascar needs to turn the Busch series back into what it was meant to be
