Officials representing Alabama Motorsports Park released an updated site plan Friday for the 2,200-acre motorsports and entertainment complex. The track, billed as a Dale Earnhardt Jr. Speedway, is a property of Gulf Coast Entertainment, LLC.
The updated plan reflects changes to land use on the north and west sides of the property in Mobile County, Alabama.
“We made the site plan changes as part of the ongoing NEPA process in which we are working in close cooperation with the Army Corps of Engineers and other federal agencies,” said Mike Dow, former Mobile mayor and managing member of Gulf Coast Entertainment.
The focal point of the plan is a 7/10ths-mile D-shaped asphalt speedway. The property will also include a 3-mile road course and karting track. The road course includes a straightaway that runs through the “Race City” retail area, providing a traditional road course and street circuit combination.
The complex is expected to be fully operational in 2010.

this is going to be huge for the sport, for a driver to be very involved in the process of a race track
[sarcasm] So if NASCAR doesn’t give him a race.. Does he sue????? l0l [/sarcasm]
I AM SO HAPPY FOR JUNE BUG. ITS GOING TO AWESOME. GOOD LUCK JUNE BUG AND KELLEY AND KERRY. LOVE YA JUNE BUG GO #88
What a wonderful addition to Stock Car Racing. Gettin back to the true Roots of Where this sport started. 7/10ths-mile D-shaped asphalt speedway
Thank You !!
This would be great if it takes the Talladega race dates. Plates = low-horsepower entertainment via tight packs and no driver input for the benefit of drunks in the stands who hope that their driver wins the crapshoot.

I’d like to see the first date go to the oval track, and the second date go to the roadcourse. If we are going to have a chase it needs a roadcourse race in it.
Yes WE NEED A ROADCOURSE IN THE CHASE.. That’s the only thing the chase is missing.
A road course does NOT need to be added to the Chase. They are way too boring and need to be taken out of the circuit completely. Even some of the oval and more exciting races were boring this year because of the COT. I was very disappointed in the entertainment aspect of the performance of the COT, much like I am continuously disappointed in the road courses.
WOW you got to be joking.. You see the Watkins Glen race this year? One of the best races I’ve seen all year. The tracks we need less of is the 1.5 mile tracks.. TOO MANY OF THEM. I love the beating and banging in road courses. Track’s like California and Texas I think are boring.
Jr. is only a part in a whole family operation but will likely have the most input on the track layout and grounds to be built. I hope he does get some dates from NASCAR but the likely-hood of that is slim at best for a while.
A 1st class racing complex in that part of the state will be great for all kinds of motor-sports.
No, FISHY-69er !! I doubt he would sue to get the dates but he might sue you if you keep defaming his good name… Just kidding unlike you I’m sure he has more class than than to wast his time with petty BS.
He is in the public Eye, and I have said nothing that has cost him money so I would wish him luck on that…. l0l
I agree with lesley road course racing SUCKS get rid of them both give 1 of the dates to rockingham or hell both.
I say get rid of half the ovals and replace them with road courses!!!
Talladega? Boring, unless they remove the restrictor plates. Replace it with Road Atlanta.
Phoenix? Boring, replace it with Miller Motorsports Park in Utah.
Las Vegas? Boring, replace it with Laguna Seca.
Martinsville? Boring, replace it with Virginia International Raceway.
Chicagoland? Boring, replace it with Road America (Wisconsin).
Michigan? Boring, replace it with the Belle Isle Street Circuit.
That’d be more interesting!
