Dale Earnhardt, JrDale Earnhardt Jr. was dressed in his customary jeans, T-shirt and baseball cap and soaking it all in. NASCAR’s most popular driver already sells cars and jeans among other products. Now, the iconic driver with the legendary last name was standing in front of reporters explaining why the color orange dominates his new bar. The mechanical bull was directly behind him, and the giant dance floor and stage were to his right.

Earnhardt’s handlers were all around him. Fans had paid several hundred dollars for access to VIP areas during the private grand opening earlier this week of Whisky River, which is across the street from Charlotte’s downtown arena.

I heard that it was awesome! Jr was at the opening and talking to everyone and giving autographs. He just hung out with anyone that wanted to sit near him. Very Cool!

I like what Mel said….. “Just another Bar”

And eventually it’ll face the same problems all bars face, drunken idiots fighting, a possible shooting, maybe a robbery, possibly a law suit if someone who was drinking gets in their car to go home and kills somebody in a crash……

Too many liabilities in owning a Bar.

    I’m not hating, I just don’t care. Big deal…..
You can do thinkgs like this when you are filthy rich!! :)

I’m not hating I just agreed with what Mel said, its just another bar in the city, nothing special.

Also my Cousin owns a bar less the 5 minutes from my house. Now I’m not a lush and I don’t hang around the bar that much, but I know that yes drunken idiots do like to fight about stupid stuff at like 1am or 2am in the morning, and I do know that Bars in general have a higher chance of having a shooting/robbery then non-bar restaurants, and I do know that if somebody leaves your bar drunk, and gets in an accident the bar can be held liable for any and all damages that happen, including but not limited to being sued for wrongful death (a bar on the other side of town got shut down for that last year)

I heard General Tom Sadler talk about it and he thought it was great. It might be an upscale bar.

Besides the fact Junior himself said it was nothing special
but a bar with southern rock music and more of a dance
    mix in the late hours.

It looks like you spoke to soon, as we can see the Jr Haters (envious bunch they are) wasted no time poking there beady little heads out to squawk about this heinous crime committed by another filthy rich country bumpkin.
First it makes me laugh that the people that do not appreciate Dale Jr. for what he has made of himself just giggle with glee when they try to point a finger at his country roots and belittle him for not speaking like a Philly lawyer saying he doesn’t have the fit and finish of say Jimmy or Gordo.
But as soon as he opens a god forbid “Country Bar” in his local area for FUN & Profit and a place to go when he wants to meet his buddies, well that’s just wrong. (sarcastic remark) !@#$ %^*
Wake up folks Dale Jr. is just being himself and having a ball doing it, no matter how much you squawk about it .
When we go to the 600 in Charlotte for 10 days I will be at Whiskey River to sample some good old ribs and a Budweiser or 2…

Maybe the rules are different in your part of the country, but here you can go in a bar at any age, you just can’t sit at the actual bar counter till you are 21.

Well Fisha, In my area bar owners know that if you are a guy you cannot by alcohol, then you are doing no good for them. Alcohol has a fifty percent markup and is the only reason most bars make money. Now if you are a chick then you might get in to help draw in more men who can buy drinks.

Nobody’s comments here really have anything to do with this story!!!

Speaking of the story itself—-HALF TOLD!! WHY does the color orange dominate his decor, what did he say in his interview to the reporters, WHO are his handlers, and for several hundred dollars each, why not drop some of the fans names in the story who paid for VIP treatment??

Another ARS.com half told story! zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Tons of people go in there to eat, as not only is it a bar, but it has a Tommy’s Hoagies (local chain of 3 stores) in there as well, also their bar pizzas and wings are some of the best pizza and wings you’ll find in the area. Heck the bouncers during the summer are only 18.

And like I said its my cousins bar.

    Couple of things here.

    1. about the orange, I’m guessing its his favorite color as I saw a pic of his plane and it had orange on it, and the JRMotorsports logo is also orange, and I think the DMP car that Truex jr (or maybe Dale Jr) drove in a Busch race was also orange (or had lots of orange on it)

    2. Did you even pay attention to the story…? I guess not or you would have seen that the very last line in it was “More at comcast.net/AP” and the “comcast.net/AP” part is blue because its a hyperlink for you to click on to see more of the story.

Remember ARS is a BLOG where Kenneth picks interesting news storys involving NASCAR and posts a quote of the story in the blog with a hyper link to the rest of it so the entire story doesn’t take up unneeded space on the page.

Thats cool, a restaurant as well as a bar. Makes having fun a little easier. To be honest I do not agree with the drinking age. If you can serve your country and vote at 18, you should be able to drink, especially at JRs bar.

Typical Jr fans — always a chip on your
shoulder. Hey we all have our favorites
and do not have to agree — so why not
just agree to disagree and “be nice”!!

Or would that be too much of a stretch
    for Jr fans?

My point is this place isnt some hole in the wall dive its more upscale and will have more than enough security to handle any problems.

Don’t understand why some folks want to slam Jr. if you dont like him then dont go to his bar or his store, its that easy.
    I have been to JR’s motorshop/store and it’s wonderful.
As for him being rich, hummmm, seems to me it was Dale Jr behind that wheel on the race track each week taking the risk, he earned it, he can spend it as he sees fit.
