Dale Earnhardt Jr. says he is excited about the merger between Dale Earnhardt Inc. and Ginn Racing. Although he’ll be departing from DEI at season’s end, Earnhardt Jr. has long said he remains interested in the organization’s future.
Plus, he’ll be competing with additional teammates starting this weekend. Speaking to Claire B. Lang on the XM Satellite Radio program “Dialed In,” Earnhardt Jr. talked about the merger that puts himself, Martin Truex Jr., Mark Martin and Paul Menard in the race at Indianapolis Motor Speedway as teammates this weekend.
“I’m really excited for DEI,” he told the show. “I’m also excited as a driver to be able to work more closely with Mark Martin. I think we have a really good friendship. So that’ll be interesting to say that that’s been something I did during my career. He will definitely be able to help us as a company. I’m getting to where I’m having some sleepless nights because we haven’t been to victory lane, so hopefully he can help us with those [laughs]. Martin was really anticipating who his new teammate was going to be, and hopefully Mark will stick around for a couple more years to help Martin develop more as a driver.”
