Dale Earnhardt, JrRobby Gordon and crew chief Greg Erwin weren’t saying much yesterday about this week’s NASCAR penalty for throwing a piece of roll-bar padding on the track on Sunday in Hampton, Ga.

One top driver said he was curious why NASCAR wasn’t able to determine that the debris was only roll-bar padding before throwing the yellow.

However, Dale Earnhardt Jr. echoed Tony Stewart and Matt Kenseth in dismissing the affair as not much of an issue: “That’s something that’s happened before. I don’t know if there is a driver in the garage that hasn’t done that. So I don’t think it’s something that deserves a real steep penalty.

“But it ain’t something you want to condone, so it’s good they penalized him and set an example for the rest of us.

I think we all knew some of the drives have cheated or at least tried. Robby Gordon is an idiot, did he think no cameras would be on him and catch what he did?

It’s robby…he probably didn’t think anybody was paying attention to him because he’s a backmarker.

I think it was an F1 team that put a camera in the cockpit of their own car and labeled it “Lie Detector”. Maybe NASCAR should to that to all the cars in each race.

And this is new? Cheating seems to be as normal as the favortism that takes place in this business - just ask Chad Knaus and Jimmie Johnson. LOL =P

Well i dont want to take anything away from Nascar or Robby. Robby should get the fine that Sorenson got back in the spring. Some may ask well the race was over, well thats easy score him first car a lap down. I know that the caution really hurt jeff burton and he is one of my favs, but on the other hand, you gotta be consistant. Ive seen a load of roll bar padding thrown out over the years lol. I think nascar is always tougher on robby than any other drivers, i went to bristol and saw robby get held a lap cause he bad mouthed nascar. I bet every driver does it, but only robby would get held a lap for it. Maybe robby should ask chad knaus how to cheat and keep it under the radar lmao.

All I can say is poor Robby. He is always the person they seem to make the example out of. He tells it like it is and pulls no punches and instead of getting the credit for being a standup guy who pulls no punches, he gets the short end of the deal from Nascar and other teams. He and Brendan Gaughn are the most candid in the sport and they get no respect….that should tell us all something.
