i dont care who is on the cover…Nascar 2008 SUCKED MAJOR BALLS…and EA will do the same thing with this…so i will not be purchasing it…even if there were 3 naked women on the cover…dont make the game better

  2. 2 MoFo

EA really stiffed Papyrus and Sierra. Makers of the only real NASCAR sim.

  3. 3 Tex Registered User

Still won’t buy it. NASCAR games suck, b/c EA does a horrible job.

  4. 4 MoFo

EA has chocked severally in the past. i will be very hesitant to buy this. if you asked alot of gamers NASCAR, they would tell you how badly the last 3 games have been! all i gotta say is, don’t be surprised when your sells keep going down because of EA. not only the game is bad, the servers to! i refuse to buy EA games a majority of the time. their online server fails alot. it is not very dependable!

There is something about a person being on the cover every few years that seems to take away from the special aspect of being a cover athlete.

Rumor was that Dale Jr was going to be on the cover, but after he endorsed ARCA Sim Racing and iRacing, EA decided to not put him on the cover.

Since JPM was on the European cover last year, I have a feeling that Dario will be on that one this year.

You must have played the XBOX 360 version. TONS better than the others. This is coming from someone who plays NR2003. The damage is way off but the racing is getting a lot better.

  7. 7 Fisha695 Registered User

PS2 version of last years game was the best gameplay wise IMO. I tried the PS3 version but didn’t like it, it was too twitchy

  8. 8 Jayson

the old papyrus games are so much better than the EA games will ever be, it doesn’t
matter how “realistic” EA thinks they are making the games, they still suck.

  9. 9 Anonymous

the PS2 versions of Nascar games, have been pretty good so far

  10. 10 Fisha695 Registered User

The Papyrus games weren’t that real either.

Fisha are you the one on the EA boards?

    yup

Still say NR2003 from Papyrus is the best NASCAR game ever made so far. It’s a game that makes me feel like I’m actually racing.

  14. 14 Trent

I used to be all over the those boards last year. You know your stuff so I’ll listen to you lol! The next gen games were a little “twitchy” but once you get the feel it really is a decent engine for console racing.

  15. 15 Andrew

The controls were impossible with a joypad thingy…
but if you invested in the wheel it was much better…atleast on the XBOX 360 version

  16. 16 Fisha695 Registered User

I know for this year they are redoing the steering/handling a bit. now the car will no longer track to the left with the default setups, so while that may be a little more un-realistic, it’ll make it easier for the people who use the controllers to drive.

  17. 17 Brent

the best NASCAR games went out the door YEARS ago, ending with NR2003. EA has the worst NASCAR games ever. the only one I like is NASCAR thunder 2003 b/c you have to do R&D and develop your engins and chassis and actually work to a comptetitive level. Papyrus and Serria will always have the supreme NASCAR games no matter how much EA says the games are improved

  18. 18 Anonymous

Will they make a non butt pirate version for us straight NASCAR fans?

  19. 19 Trent

They are making on with Jeff and Jimmie hugging. Does that help?

  20. 20 Axel Foley

EA’s PS2 NASCAR games have been on a steady decline since the ‘03 and ‘04 versions. The way the cars handle has gotten better it seems, atleast from a sim aspect (when assists are off), but everything else is way too arcade. The computer controls too much during gameplay at times and the computer AI is the glitchiest excuse for thought I have ever seen.

MoFo, the servers have actually always worked really great for me. You might wanna do some Ping -t’s to see if you’re the one with the packet loss. ;)

Does anyone play NASCAR Sim Racing on the PC?

  21. 21 Brian

Nascar games keep on getting better I think screw all you other people who think it suck it gives you way more experience with how nascar really is not like papyrus and sierra all you do is drive through the wall so I am looking forward to nascar 09

Drive through the wall? What are you talking about? If you’re talking about the online play you see on youtube videos and such where there is glitches with online races which makes it look as though they are driving through the wall I see where you are getting this, But that is just lag and has nothing to do with the awesome gameplay that Papyrus and Sierra have provided us NASCAR fans. EA has been making NASCAR games worse since 2004. 08 has terrible physics and for people who don’t know how to setup the car good luck because the default setup blows.

  26. 26 Fisha695 Registered User

Racing games should not come with default setups. Figuring out the setup is half the fun, if you can run good with the default setups then that takes away a lot of the gameplay. IMO

The only thing EA gets right is the auto pit deal other than that game play sucks, but i have to admit i liked the paint balls on nascar 98 that was fun for like 10 minutes.

Are you talking about how it drives through the pits for you?
If you are, in my opinion, I think we should be able to drive
our own cars through the pits. Make speeding a factor. I wouldn’t
even mind driving the car on the pace laps.

I agree. But then EA would probably argue that it would take
away from the “gameplay” if they focused on the car specifically.
Either way, EA is a joke compared to NR2003. ;)

I’ve wanted that for quite some time. EA’s NASCAR ‘02 for PS2 made you sit and watch the pace laps in real time while the computer controlled your car. It was actually kinda cool, but having full control would be way better.

I get out plenty, I just have a hatred for every driver that everyone thinks that they are the best thing on the track. ex.-24, 48, 88, 20, 18.

For the most part the driver on the cover goes on to win the championship the following year. There are a few exceptions like Dale Jr and Kevin Harvick (in recent memory), but if that holds true again this year then Smoke is going to win the championship because he was on last years cover.

  36. 36 gigolo george Registered User

That probably explains why Hermie Sadler didn’t make it.(lol) Thanks for the info Fisha.

On the 360 version speeding in the pits is a factor. Well at least you have to enter the pits at the correct speed. EA does drop the ball on pace laps. Sure not everyone wants to drive them but NO ONE wants to watch the computer take control as you sit and watch a 2 min “cutscene”. Especially in the next gen version because your car will hit other cars under caution and take damage.

Just because he is the best driver doesn’t mean he is not a metrosexual.

Well yeah you have to enter at the right speed. But I was referring
to driving the car yourself down the WHOLE pitroad and not speed.
Don’t you think it’d be more realistic to have to know when to
brake into your pit, exit and not hit any cars on the way out.

  41. 41 Trent

Entering and exiting the pits is fun and frustrating. NR 2003 has you do the whole deal. You have your pit guys waving your pit board at you and all. It is very fun I agree.

because NASCAR has turned into the biggest money investment…not the best driving…that wins. Put any vet. into a the 24 or 88 car and they’ll probably win

What kinda person does it make them? Champions

2007 Jimmie JOHNSON (Chevrolet) Nextel Cup
2006 Jimmie JOHNSON (Chevrolet) Nextel Cup
2005 Tony STEWART (Chevrolet) Nextel Cup
2004 Kurt BUSCH (Ford) Nextel Cup
2003 Matt KENSETH (Ford) Winston Cup
2002 Tony STEWART (Pontiac) Winston Cup

Here is a list of better drivers. It’s almost been a decade since he won. That’s why you are so defensive and bringing up stats. Sorry you favorite driver is past his prime but you can go down swingin if you want. oh wait I almost forgot my “hahaha” It’s the laaaaaaaaaaast laugh.

  46. 46 Fisha695 Registered User

The only people that deserve to be on the cover of the Official game of a sports league are the defending champions for every league that is in the game.

for NASCAR 09 that would mean

    Jimmie Johnson
Carl Edwards (and the RCR 29)
    Ron Hornaday
