Eury and Dale JrUPDATE Below - Statement from DEI

Dale Earnhardt Inc. dropped its appeal of penalties levied against Dale Earnhardt Jr. and his crew chief for illegal modifications made to the Car of Tomorrow. The appeal was scheduled to be heard Wednesday, but the team informed NASCAR on Tuesday it will not fight the penalties.

Earnhardt was docked 100 points and crew chief Tony Eury Jr. was fined $100,000 and suspended six races after NASCAR discovered illegal brackets on the rear wing of the #8 Chevy at Darlington.

DEI issued the following statement: “The rules are black and white,” said Richie Gilmore, DEI’s Vice President of Motorsports. “We were clearly in violation of those rules and accept the penalties handed down by NASCAR. Going forward, we’ve reviewed our internal processes and procedures to insure something like this doesn’t happen again.”

Umm am I wrong or is this a repeated topic? “The appeal was scheduled to be heard Wednesday, but the team informed NASCAR on Tuesday it will not fight the penalties.” If it isn’t gonna fight the penalties why does it need to be heard?

Figures. The driver who’s leaving gets docked 100 points. so now, their gonna leave him out high and dry. NO OTHER TEAM WOULD HAVE DONE THAT. you fight for your driver until its no longer possible. Had JR stayed, they’d still be fighting.

Good choice D.E.I.!! There is no room for cheating! Just suck it up and deal with it!!! Move on and learn from your mistakes. I’m glad to see Nascar finally cracking down on Jr. He’s gotten away with too much for too long.

And as soon as HMS stops cheating, then all HMS fans can stop being hypocrites and rubbing it in. DEI didn’t appeal. It’s over, let it go.

When has Jr. ever cheated? I mean really. How many times had Knauss, AND Gordon cheated. I mean BLATANTLY cheated and got away with it? Tony Eury Jr. makes ONE mistake (They didn’t race with the brackets) and they got the book tossed at them, and the HMS fans have a field day. Holy Hypocrisy, Batman!

Junior got screwed, plain and simple, and I don’t even like him!

    I gotta agree with NASH.

Nascarfan4life24 …if JR screwed up HALF as many times
as Tony Stewart and got the light slap on the hand
as Tony does I can see you crying, but that doesn’t happen.
You obviously have a major problem with Earnhardt JR and
we’ve all noted that in our tablet under your name,
    so now that you got everyone’s attention;
    how about showing you have

    some sort of intelligence
    and just get over it

    and stop
    blasting JR.

for as much as I dislike Stewart, I’ve atleast
    been woman enough to
give the man credit where credit is due!!

I’m not a stewart fan. But you are right, stewart is another chump who gets away with too much. He should have been fired when he went on his little punching people kick! Stewart whines worse than the Jr. nation.

OK Nascarfan check this out: just say no to drugs. Tony Stewart is the only driver in nascar that is worth watching right now. Why? #1 he dosen’t cheat #2 he has more talent in his pinky than any driver at HMS #3 He is the only driver in Nascar that has the intestinal fortitude to say what needs to be said: NASCAR is in bed with HMS and they rig the cautions. You cannot say that they way the cautions have fallen in the last year and a half is not at least suspicious.

Don’t Hate on Tony because he has the guts to say what is on his mind. Don’t hate on tony because he dosen’t have perfect hair and a supermodel wife.

Respect Tony because he is a skilled driver who speaks his mind. Not what NASCAR tells him to say.

Nascarfan, JR GETS AWAY WITH TOO MUCH???? WOW, you must be thinking of Gordon or Johnson. BY THE WAY PEOPLE, the drivers arent the ones who do the changing to the cars, the team is. So everyone saying Jimmie and Gordon and JR cheat, its not the drivers guys.

Also, it was a SUPPLIED part to DEI. they didn’t manufacture it. take the points from the owners, NOT the driver.
Same thing when JR wore on TV AFTER the race. Driver points should ONLY be taken away for stuff pulled DURING a race.
like if you intentionally wreck people or something like that.

There is no proof that Tony Jr. or Dale Jr. have ever cheated (or Tony Stewar and Zippy for that matter). Chad Knaus and Alan Gustafson… That’s an entirely different story. You’d think a company with as high a moral standard as Hendrick claims to possess would have fired them long ago.
